Life is basically a function of our decisions as individuals Deu. 30:19; Dan. 1:8. It is important that each of us make the conscious decision of the side to be in life, and it is wisdom to make the choice for God’s side. Why is it a must to be on God’s side?

The Blessedness of Being on God’s Side.

  1. i) God’s side is the more than conqueror side of life.

Being on God’s side makes the believer to become more than a conqueror in life Rms. 8:28,31,35-39.

  1. ii) God’s side is the flourishing side of life.

Being on God’s side makes the believer to walk in the fear of God and the dictates of scriptures Amos 3:3; Psa. 1:1-3. This makes the believer to flourish no matter the circumstance Psa. 37:18-19.

Scriptural Example of the Story of Men on God’s Side.

Peter was a struggling fisherman, who met Jesus and made the choice to be and remain on God’s side Mat. 4:18-20; Lk 5:1-5,11. By his choice, he emerged the leading apostle of Christ, and a wonder to his world whose shadow healed the sick and set the oppressed free Acts 5:15-18; Mat. 16:17-18.

Paul was a persecutor of the church and a murderer, but met with Christ and chose to remain on God’s side for life Acts 9:5-6; 1Cor. 9:16-17. He became a giant of giants in the gospel, an apostle of special miracles, and wrote more than half of the New Testament Acts 19:8-12,14-20; Phm. 1:9.

How to Remain on God’s Side.

  1. Beware of nonchalant attitudes to God and His word.

Attitude matters a lot, it will determine whether one will remain on God’s side on not Mat. 12:41-42. The example of Eli exemplify this; he was disconnected from God simply for his nonchalant attitude to God’s instruction 1Sam. 3:11-14,18.

  1. Beware of tempting God through complaining and murmuring.

God has zero-tolerance to complaining and murmuring, these actions incur His anger always Num. 11:1; 1Cor. 10:8,10. The believer who will remain on God’s side must not be found with any of them.

  1. Maintain a quality covenant walk with God.

The only way to remain on God’s side is to maintain a walk with God Gen. 5:23-24. And a qualitative walk with God demands that we know God and faith in Him Dan. 11:32; 2Cor. 5:7; Jms. 2:18-24.

  1. Righteousness consciousness

This means an undying crave for sanctification and continuous exercise unto godliness 2Tim. 2:19-21; 1Tim. 4:7-8. This is vital to remain on God’s side, and particularly to make it to heaven at the end of the day 2Cor. 5:21.

Dangers of not being on God’s Side.

  1. It blocks access to help in times of trouble.

God is the sure and only help of man from troubles Psa. 46:1. When a man is disconnected from God, he will lack help in trouble times, which are always part of life Psa. 33:18-19. Hezekiah was helped by God when he was confronted by death, because he was on God’s side Isa. 38:1-5.

  1. It destroys one’s generations.

Posterity can only be preserved by being on God’s side Psa. 112:1-3. Eli and his generation lost their place in destiny because Eli got disconnected from God 1Sam. 2:30-36. Achan and his generation was scrapped from off the earth in one day because Achan left being on God’s side Jos. 7:16-26.

  1. It blocks access to eternity with Christ.

Eternity with Christ is the ultimate every man should strive towards, to miss it will be an eternal regret, torture and suffering Lk. 9:25. But this is only possible by a conscious effort to remain on God’s side to the final end Rev. 21:8; Cor. 6:9-11; Mat. 7:12-23.

In conclusion, life is basically about responsibility; understanding and embracing the responsibilities makes life to answer to the individual without sweat. The responsibility of remaining on God side is one that has been neglected, and it is at the root of the undoing of many in life. As for you, you shall not be a part of the struggle again in life.

To anyone reading this that will love to give his/her life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for

Prayer.

  1. Father in the name of Jesus, by the blood of Jesus, I am delivered from every ungodly attitude and lifestyle out to disconnect me from remaining on God’s side 9:14.

Father in the name of Jesus, I receive the grace to pay the price to remain on God’s side to the end, thereby enjoy the blessings and make eternity with Christ 1Cor. 15:10
