By redemption, the believer is ordained for rest in all areas of his life Mat. 11:28. In essence, after being born again, the believer is not designed to go through unrest again in his life. But understanding is key in determining how much the believer will experience of what God has ordained for him in life Psa. 119:144; Mat. 13:23.
What is Rest?
Remember, we belong to a kingdom that operates by covenant Jer. 33:20-21. To enjoy all round rest, the believer simply need to know embrace the covenant responsibilities.
The Covenant Requirement for Rest.
Sin is at the root of unrest in life; if an individual will be lawless, he will ever be experiencing troubles 2Chr. 15:3-6. The only cure for sin is the blood of Jesus, which everyone has access to by repentance and salvation Heb. 9:14; Rev. 1:5.
The choice to walk with God is the choice to walk in rest in life, because it will secure God’s presence which guarantees rest Exo. 14:14; Psa. 16:11. To walk with God, the believer must make his life be in agreement with God always and in all things Amos 3:3.
The bible faith at work in a believer will silence unrest, and bring into all-round rest to the life of the child of God Heb. 4:1-3,6. But faith has to be consciously built by individual believer, through feeding on God’s word Rms. 10:17.
Often, at the root of every unrest in life is ignorance; when the believer gets to know more of God, he will find himself step into rest in life Mat. 11:29; Hos. 4:6. Jesus told Martha that she was much troubled because of her approach, while Mary choice to seek after knowledge as the secret to her life of rest Lk. 10:41-42. In any area anyone desire rest, seek for knowledge and you will walk into your rest.
God leads in the path of still waters, not troubled waters Psa. 23:1-2. When we commit to follow God’s guidance, we are guaranteed the experience of all round rest in life.
The love of God at work in a believer makes him to be filled with the personality of God Eph. 3:17-19; 1Jn. 4:16. When one is full of God, nothing again in life can trouble his life Psa. 114:1-8.
Serving God and the interest of His kingdom is a guarantee to all round rest in life 2Chr. 15:12,15; Mat. 6:33. Serving God is not just about working for God, but laboring towards the advancement of His kingdom and church growth. And we do this essentially by kingdom advancement prayer, soul winning and establishment, using our resources to promote God’s kingdom.
In conclusion, God has ordained the believer for rest in life Heb. 4:9! All that the believer need is do what it takes to experience the rest prepared for him.
