BREAKING GENERATIONAL CURSES 081023.

Curses are real, to deny their existence or reality is to become a cheap victim. What are curses? They are negative forces in the spirit realm that works the ruin (failure, destruction) in the life of man, no matter his effort.

Examples:

  1. i) Cain – a curse was released on his life that made his effort never to deliver 4:11-12.
  2. ii) Jabez – he came under a curse, and everything in his life will always end in sorrow no matter what he does or the help he enjoys 4:9-10.

Two Basic Things to Understand about Curses.

  1. i) They are often generational in nature.

In essence, they don’t end with an individual, they can be inherited. The scriptures show us that curses will run for at least three (3) to four (4) generations, which is 300 to 400 years Exo. 20:3-5; Gen. 15:13-15. Therefore, every cycle of evil in one’s life or lineage is an indication of a curse, like business and career frustration, marital spell, bareness, infertility, diseases and sicknesses, addiction, indebtedness etc.

  1. ii) Curses are reversible.

In essence, they can be broken or terminated on a life, including inherited or generational curses Col. 2:14. The way to reverse all curses is to come under God’s blessing Num. 23:8,20; Gen. 12:3.  But we must understand that God’s blessings are free by availability, but there is the price-tag to access it Isa. 55:1-2.

Covenant Ways to Break Curses.

These refer to the price to pay to access God’s blessing, and reverse every curse.

  1. Be saved and remain so.

Salvation brings the believer into the Abrahamic blessing, which is the blessing of God thereby terminating al curses Gal. 3:13-14; Acts 3:26. Being born again therefore, is not introduction to a religion, church system, mere change o f lifestyle, but an initiation into a new life full of God’s blessing, which erases all curses on the individual’s life 2Cor. 5:17. Many claims to be born again yet are evidently reflecting curses in their lives, why? It is because salvation connects to God’s blessing, but there are demands to sustain the blessing.

  1. Engage the force of faith.

Everything in the kingdom including God’s blessing can only be accessed through faith Hab. 2:4; Mat. 9:29. Therefore, everyone requires faith to connect to God’s blessing, and to have all forms of curses broken off his life Lk. 1:45. We build our faith through feeding on God’s word Rms. 10:17.

  1. Serving God and the interest of His kingdom.

This is a vital demand to sustain God’s blessing Exo. 23:25-26; Mat. 6:33. Serving God and His kingdom essentially is about engaging in what brings growth to God’s kingdom. Therefore, the on-going operation 11th hour change of story is our opportunity to connect to God’s blessing and break every curse.

  1. Engage the force of word practice.

Every scripture that is applied releases God’s blessing on the believer Jms. 1:25. In essence, living by the dictates of the scriptures will terminate curse in a believer’s life.

  1. Engage the force of obedience to God’s instruction.

The lifestyle of obedience to every instruction of God brings the believer into the blessings of God Deu. 28:1-14; Isa. 1:19. In essence, every believer that will be free from curses must sign-in to the lifestyle of obedience completely.

  1. Engage the force of faithfulness.

Faithfulness is identified in scriptures as a covenant virtue that multiplies God’s blessing on the believer Pro. 28:20. Faithfulness can be defined as the quality of doing what is right both in the open and secret, when supervised and when not Mat. 24:45-47. Faithfulness is very scarce even in the church, which is why we see many that claim to be born again yet are still reflecting curses in their life Psa. 12:1.

  1. Engage the lifestyle of righteousness.

Righteousness invokes God’s blessing on the believer, thereby terminating all curses in his life Psa. 5:12. Righteousness is a personal choice that demands one’s commitment to become the experience of the believer. Righteousness can be costly, but it is highly rewarding Pro. 14:34.
