WHY MUST WE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR CHURCH GROWTH PT. 5.

Memory verse:

“Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the

house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men

like a flock.” – Ezk. 36:37.

Church growth is central to God’s purpose on the earth; it is everything about the kingdom of God on the earth Matt. 6:33; Rev. 11:15. From scriptures we understand that God has committed Himself to the growth of His church, but this will be determined as the church accept responsibility 1Cor. 3:6. Prayer investment is the core responsibility of believers’ that will move God to build the church for growth Isa. 66:7-8; Ezk. 36:37. In essence, where the church stops at engaging in prayer is where the growth of the church will stop Acts. 6:4,7.

Therefore, whatever cannot stop the church from praying, cannot stop the church from growing. What the devil does is to make the church become busy with activities other than prayer, thereby hinder the growth of the church. Our teaching this week has been on the power of consistent and continuous prayer for continuous church growth.

What makes Continuous Prayer vital for Continuous Church Growth?

  1. For the continuous release of the word of God, which is vital for church growth Acts 6:7.

God’s word is vital to church growth; it is at the root of sustainable growth of the church Jn. 6:66-68. The word of God is the ‘spiritual magnet’ that draws multitude Matt. 24:28; Acts 13:44. In essence, wherever the word of God is, there the people will gather in there multitude. Scriptures make us t understand that prayer altar is what guarantee our access to the word of God, the spirit of the word that blesses Psa. 119:18. Without prayer, we are left with the letter of the word that delivers no profit Jn. 6:63. Therefore, to experience church growth, we must continue to pray for the release of the sent word, the right word, and the word for season Psa. 107:20; Job 6:25; Isa. 50:4. Also, we must continue to pray for the impact of the word in the lives of God’s people, which will result in the attraction of many more to Christ and the church Acts 6:7; 2Ths. 3:1.

Why any church don’t engage in this order of prayer is because prayer is hard spiritual labor Lk. 24:41-44; 1Kgs. 18:42-44. But the good news is that it is a most rewarding labor 1Tim. 4:8. Therefore, we should expect our rewards as we engage in it Rev. 22:12.

      1. Prepare before you start.
      2. Take ever physical distraction before you start.
      3. Engage the blood of Jesus against every distraction from the devil.
      4. Discipline your mind to focus, by always bringing your mind back whenever you find it straying away.
      5. Ask for the help of the Holy Spirit ACts 8:26.
