WHY MUST WE BE COMMITTED TO IN-GATHERING OF SOULS INTO CHURCH PT. 3

Memory verse:

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

“These things I command you, that ye love one another.”

  • Jn. 15:16-17.

The scriptures make us to understand that the believer is ordained for the principal task of reconciling the unsaved back to God 2Cor. 5:17-20. No matter how active a believer is in church or how intense his service to God is, when it is devoid of winning of souls into the kingdom, it may not attract the blessing and reward of God Heb. 12:28. We understand further from scriptures that it is not just converts that God demand of believer but disciples Mat. 28:19-20. Disciples are converts who have grown to imbibe the principles of Christ and adopted same as their lifestyle. These are converts who have become established in the faith by abiding in the church. This is what God called the believer into, and it has the guarantee of great rewards Jn. 15:16.

Scriptural understanding that empowers the believer to labor for abiding fruits.

  1. For the preservation of our converts.

Every creature has the habitat where the life it carries is nurtured and preserved. The new life the believer received at new birth can only be nurtured ad preserved in the place of fellowship Heb. 10:25. Therefore, the church is the spiritual home for the believer, where we fellowship with the Father and brethren Lk. 15:3-7; Eph. 2:19. Also, the church is the guaranteed place of covering for the convert against all assaults of the enemy 2Sam. 7:10; Psa. 91:1-5. In essence, if the convert will not be a victim of the vices of the enemy against his new found faith and life generally, he must take refuge in the church by being committed there. When a convert is planted in the church, he has secured for himself his glorious destiny Psa. 92:12-15.

Our commitment to the church is not about being religious but an essential for to secure and actualize the life of greatness and glory that redemption offers Psa. 87:5-7. Let’s strive at seeing that every of our converts are established in the church and the faith.
