Memory verse:

“And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,”

“And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.”

“And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”

“There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”

“And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”

  • Lk.:17:17-19.

Thanksgiving is acknowledging God for His blessings on our lives, whereby we indirectly remind Him of what remains Psa. 103:1-2; Lk. 17:17-19. This is a law of God for the believer, and it is vital for a glorious life Mal. 2:1-3. From scriptures, we understand that our God is a loving Father, but operate by His laws. His laws are not intended to make life hard and difficult, rather they are the secret to success and fulfillment on the earth 1Jn. 5:3; Jos. 1:8. The entire universe is governed by the laws of God, and this is what has kept it running without any hitch Job 38:8-11. Hence, for life to run without any hitch, the believer needs to comply with the law of thanksgiving 1Ths. 5:18.

The power the believer releases in thanksgiving.

  1. Understand that we serve a covenant keeping God.

We just established that God operates by His laws; these are clear instruction of what man must do to qualify for His provisions Deu. 28:1-2. Another word we call these is eh covenant; God is a covenant keeping God Psa. 89:34. For instance, God is committed to give the believer anything he asked for that His word covers 1Jn. 5:14-15; Mk. 11:24; Mat. 21:22. It is a covenant to which God is bound to fulfill, hence there is no reason why a believer should suffer anything.

  • It takes thanksgiving to secure answer to our request from God.

From scriptures, we understand why believers ask but don’t receive anything, and the answer is lack of thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving is what makes our request to command express response from God Php. 4:6; 1Ths. 5:18; Heb. 10:36. The scriptures command the believer to give thanks always, so that before he asks for anything, he has received his desire Isa. 65:24.
