Memory verse:
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1Ths. 5:18.
The scriptures make us to understand that God will freely give whatever is good to His children Rms. 8:32; Pro. 3:27-28. In essence, there is no reason why a believer should lack anything that is a true need in his life. One guaranteed way to enjoy this is to give thanks in everything, the scripture says this is the will of God for everyone in Christ 1Ths. 5:18. And when we do this will of God, identified as thanksgiving, we become entitled to every good thing of life that we desire Heb. 10:36.
Understanding how thanksgiving works to deliver testimonies.
- The example of Jehoshaphat.
Jehoshaphat was the king of the small nation of Judah, but had the challenge of three individually bigger nations come against Judah in battle 2Chr. 20:1-2. Jehoshaphat and the entire nation of Judah were afraid and didn’t know what to do 2Chr. 20:4-5,12. God sent His prophet, Jahaziel, to assure Jehoshaphat supernatural victory 2Chr. 20:13-14. But to experience the supernatural victory, Jehoshaphat engaged in thanksgiving and praise 2Chr. 20:22-24.
- Thanksgiving has the capacity to silence the enemies.
From scriptures, we understand that giving of thanks by the believer exalts the horn of the believer Psa. 92:1-2,10. The word ‘horn’ stands for strength, and this is essential for resisting enemies and oppositions Pro. 24:10. In essence, thanksgiving releases supernatural strength which makes oppositions to be silenced Psa. 92:10-11.
