Memory verse:
“And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.”
- Jer. 30:19.
The scriptures make us to understand that the church of Christ is ordained for supernatural, continuous and unstoppable growth Mat. 16:18; Pro. 4:18. In essence, the growth of the church is guaranteed against every odd, which are many and vicious 1Cor. 16:9. What is the significance of church growth someone may ask? The simple answer is that in the growth of the church lies the glory of the saints as our memory verse clearly shows. This means, every believer who desires the experience of glory must be interested and committed to church growth. From scriptures, we identify thanksgiving as the vital force to keep the church growing Jer. 30:19; Acts 2:47.
Scriptural understanding that will enhance the believer’s thanksgiving for growth.
- Understand that our God is the God of addition.
No man has the power to bring addition to anything in life, only the hand of God brings addition Mat. 6:27. In thanksgiving, we move God in our favor to bring addition to the church Acts 2:47.
- Understand that our God is the sender of the Holy Spirit, who is the Lord of the harvest.
The believer may minister the gospel to an unsaved and invite to church, but the Holy Spirit is the one who converts the sinner and brings them to the church 1Cor. 12:3; Isa. 5:26. God has the sole authority of sending the Holy Spirit, and It is in thanksgiving that we move God to release His Spirit Psa. 92:1-2,10.
- Thanksgiving is a requirement for destroying the gates of hell against the continuous growth of the church.
In thanksgiving, we invoke God to vengeance against all that opposes the growth of His church to destroy them Psa. 149:6-9; Acts 16:25-26.
Therefore, every church that will keep experiencing growth ordained for her must keep celebrating God as a way of life, to make her growth endless and unstoppable.
