Memory verse:
“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.”
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” – Isa. 43:18-19.
Jesus instructed the ten lepers that met Him at the gate to a village of Samaria and cried for mercy, to go and show themselves to the priest Lk. 17:11-14. One of them returned as they went, when he discovered he was healed Lk. 17:15. This is like an act of disobedience to the instruction; but his return was not out of disobedience, it was to first appreciate Jesus for the healing Lk. 17:15-16. Jesus didn’t scold this leper for not following His instruction, rather He demanded for why the other nine lepers did not return Lk. 17:17. This shows the power and place of thanksgiving in the kingdom.
Understanding the mystery of thanksgiving.
- Thanksgiving qualifies the believer for the next blessing of God.
God’s blessings for the believer are designed to be delivered in phases Exo. 23:29-30. But God will not do the next until we acknowledge Him for the last Lk. 17:17-19; 8:48. In essence, the believer that will experience the fullness of the blessings of God for his life must embrace thanksgiving as a lifestyle.
- Thanksgiving is the covenant demand to preserve our blessings.
The blessing of God in a man’s life has to be preserved for it to endure and be enjoyed. For instance, God blessed Saul by promoting him to the throne, but it was taken from him and given to another for lack of preservation 1Sam. 10:1; 16:1. Responding on time with thanksgiving for the wondrous works of God, moves God to preserve our blessings Mal. 2:1-3.
Jesus is Lord!
Prayer.
Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for the release of the grace for thanksgiving, thereby empower me for thanksgiving as a lifestyle from today Rms. 4:20.
Action.
What are the outstanding things God has done this year, thanks Him for them.
Priestly Blessings.
By the hand of God on your life, thanksgiving shall never cease from you again!
None of God’s blessing in your life shall be short-lived again forever!
