Memory verse:
“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;”
“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”
- Rms. 12:11-12.
It is popularly said that responsibility is the price for greatness in life. In God’s kingdom, serving God and the interest of His kingdom is the responsibility the believer must embrace for him to experience the great life that the kingdom life promises Lk. 22:25-27. In essence, serving God is not just leisure time, past-time or mere religious activity, serving God is big time business for the believer Lk. 2:49; Rms. 12:11-12. Various examples in scriptures show that serving God will turn giants out of any ordinary individual; Job Job 1:1-3,8-9; David Psa. 89:20-24; 2Sam. 18:2-3; Paul 1Cor. 15:9-10. We can therefore conclude that serving God is the wisdom for the believer to maximize his life on the earth.
There are different forms of kingdom service and they deliver at different levels of blessing, but spiritual service delivers the best and greatest 1Tim. 4:7-8. What are the ways the believer can engage in spiritual stewardship? This has been the focus of our teachings this week. I believe that God’s light shall shine upon you afresh by today’s teaching in Jesus name.
Different Ways of Engaging in Spiritual Stewardship.
- Looking after the wellbeing of others.
Scriptures command us to love others, particularly believers around us; it is the mark of being a true disciple of Christ Jn. 13:34-35; Gal. 6:10. A basic way to show love for others is being concerned about their welfare, and using ones resources in meeting their needs 1Jn. 3:17. When we do this, scriptures make it clear that we are doing it unto God Matt. 25:34-46; Pro. 19:17. In essence, when we look after the well being of the brethren we are doing service unto God, and it is a highly commendable service by God. Taking care of the life of others is highly profitable spiritual venture; the reward goes beyond material returns and the present life Psa. 41:1-3; Pro. 28:27; Matt. 25:40. Commitment to the wellbeing of others guarantees returns which will result in the greatness of the believer Job 29:4-18. I see the grace for this order on life rest on you now!
