Memory verse:
“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;”
“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”
We understand from scriptures that there is a reward for every work that a believer does for God and the sake of His kingdom Jer. 31:16; 1Cor. 15:58. In every natural establishment, members of the workforce are entitled to wages. The more a worker contributes into the system, the more the wages he is entitled to enjoy Gen. 8:22. The same applies in God’s kingdom; everyone that is committed to serving God is entitled for due rewards Heb. 6:10. When our labor for God is towards the growth of the church, it is referred to as spiritual stewardship. From scriptures, we understand that this is the most profitable engagement a believer can be involved on the earth 1Tim. 4:7-8.
The Various Ways of Engaging in Spiritual Stewardship.
The scriptures make it clear that finance is vital for the advancement of God’s kingdom on the earth Zch. 1:17. Hag. 2:7-9. Remember, God owns all things because He made all things, and they were made for His pleasure Rev. 4:11. In essence, God has the resources to build His church, but by His kingdom system, He has to put it in the hands of His children who will in turn make it available for this purpose Exo. 3:21; 12:36; 25:1-8. Therefore, using one’s resources to build God’s kingdom and the church is spiritual stewardship. And it has the following rewards among others:
