Memory verse:
“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;”
“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”
- Rms. 12:11-12.
Scriptures makes us to understand that the kingdom God operate like an estate or establishment Matt. 20:1-2. As an estate, service is at the core of eligibility and entitlement for the profits in God’s kingdom. This is why we said service in God’s kingdom is not a mere religious activity, neither is it a spiritual leisure time engagement. Serving God and the interest of His kingdom is real business, and Jesus said it explicitly Lk. 2:49. Until a believer adopt this attitude and approach towards serving God, his engagement in the kingdom might not produce the benefits expected. We don’t pray for blessing, we simply serve our way into blessing in the kingdom Exo. 23:25.
Scriptures make us to understand further that while all services in God’s kingdom will deliver profits, spiritual service is the most profitable of all 1Tim. 4:7-8. This is why two believers can be engaged in serving God diligently, but with different levels of rewards. Therefore, we have been studying the different ways of engaging in spiritual service in the kingdom since the week began.
Different Ways of Engaging in Spiritual Stewardship.
- Praying for new converts and new members to be established in the faith.
God’s will is not only to have souls saved from sin and come to the knowledge of the truth, much more God wants them to become established both in the faith and the house of God Jn. 15:16. Prayer is an essential channel to make new converts to become established in the faith and the church Gal. 4:19; Col. 4:12. Through prayer for the new converts and new members, we shut the door against the manipulation of the enemy, aimed at drawing them back to the world Ezk 11:24-26. Through prayers for them, we make the nature of Christ to become formed in them, enabling them to stand strong against sin and remain in God Gal. 4:19; Col. 4:12. By praying for them, we hasten their transformation from converts into disciples of Christ who is matured enough to win others and nurture them into disciples of Christ Jn. 4:29,39. Remember, God does not reward groups, but individuals 1Cor. 3:8.
