Memory verse:
“When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:”
“But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.”
- Lk. 11:21-22.
When Jesus was departing the earth, scriptures have it that He gave His disciples only one task to do, which is to go into all the world and preach the gospel Matt. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15-16. This is the task of winning the lost to Christ and the household of faith Jn. 15:16. This is the task that will determine reward, and it shall be according to each one’s works 1Cor. 3:8; Rev. 22:12. Understanding ‘how to’ go about a task is the first step to do well in it. The task of soul winning is warfare. This is because just as much as God is interested in the soul of each man, the devil also has same level of interest.
Therefore, it will take engaging in warfare against the devil and his forces for the believer to do well on the task. Remember we have said, our reward is according to how well we perform. We therefore need to know what it takes to win the warfare.
The Bible-way to Triumph in the Warfare of Soul Winning.
- It takes power to overcome the devil and rescue souls from hell Lk. 10:1-2,17-19.
When Jesus was to send His disciples out to preach the gospel while He was on the earth, He equipped them with power. This shows clearly the need for power to be effective in soul winning.
- The prayer altar is one guaranteed place of empowerment Jud. 1:20; Lk. 4:1-2,14.
When the believer prays, particularly praying in the Holy Ghost, power is generated which renders the devil and his forces of opposition helpless. The more the believer engages the prayer altar, the more he will be effective in soul winning.
- We need the grace to press until our converts are established in the faith Matt. 12:43-45; Acts 26:22.
In this warfare, we must beware of celebrating to early. The opposition has the nature of making attempt again and again, after he has been defeated. Therefore, the believer must keep at the warfare, even when it seems the devil is defeated. Until the souls are established in Christ and the church, this is why grace is needed.
The good news is that the prayer altar is a major channel of contacting grace Heb. 4:16. This means as the believer prays for power to be effective in soul winning, grace is also supplied. I believe this season shall bring you out as a man of impact to your world.
