The understanding of purpose is vital to make the most of every opportunity in life Pro. 29:18. We need to understand that the believer is saved primarily to serve God, when an individual becomes saved and is not committed to serving God, it is an abuse of redemption Eph. 2:10. The scriptures further make us to understand that serving God is to the sole benefit of the believer. Our service to God does not add to Him, neither does God diminish in any way when the believer fails to serve God, because He is the unchanging God Mal. 3:6; Exo. 3:14. This understanding is vital for the believer to make the most of the opportunity of kingdom service.

Therefore, serving God is a choice to be made by individual believers Jos. 24:15; Job 36:11. Many wait for God to move and impart grace to serve Him, they have failed to understand that serving God is not a gift but a choice. When the choice is truly made, it triggers the willingness and releases the grace and power to commit to kingdom service Duet. 30:19. Again today, we shall study some of the vital benefits that accrue to a believer when he commits to serving God. 

The blessedness of commitment to serving God.

1. Serving God guarantees express access to answered prayers.

The prayer platform is the expression of God’s love to the believer; where God invites the believer to approach His throne for communication Isa. 1:18. God gave the assurance that whatever the believer will ask every time He approaches will be answered by Him 1Jn. 5:14-15. What a wonder life it would be when a believer gets everything he needs the moment he engages in prayer. But a vital condition for this to be experienced in reality is the commitment to serve God Jn. 15:16; 16:24.

• Serving God turns our shame to glory.

Before new birth the life of an individual is often characterized by all manner of shame Jn. 10:10. After salvation, every of the shame is designed to be turned into glory 2Pet. 1:3. But the principle of God’s kingdom is that we can only harvest the seed we have sown. One vital way to sow the seed of glory is serving God by winning souls, which qualifies for the harvest of glory as every shame becomes turned to glory in the life of the believer Jn. 15:8; Dan. 12:3; Pro. 11:30; 3:35.

Therefore, it is wisdom to make the choice to become committed to serving God and the interest of His kingdom.

Father in the name of Jesus, I receive the enduement of the Holy Spirit for commitment to serving God and to remain tireless for life Eph. 3:16.

Action.

Engage passionately in pursuit of new souls for Jesus today; both in prayers and in reaching out on the field to the unsaved, take those that make decisions today along for service.
