Memory verse:
“And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy
bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the
midst of thee.”
“There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land:
the number of thy days I will fulfil.”
- Exo. 23:25-26.
The scriptures make us to understand that life is a personal responsibility, with each one being absolutely responsible for the outcome of his life Gen. 8:22; Psa. 1:2-3. What we do or don’t do as individuals is what determine our experience in life. Therefore, our services to God as individuals have impact on our life. In essence, when the believer engages in serving God, though it is a work that is towards enlargement of God’s kingdom, but the benefit is essentially to the believer Exo. 23:25-26. It is not helping the pastor, not the church, and definitely not God. We understand from scriptures that God will remain God whether we serve him or we don’t, because He is the ‘I am that I am’ Exo. 3:14; Mal. 3:6. But the believer stands to lose the benefits when he fails to serve God.
The Benefit that Accrue to the Believer in Serving God.
- Serving God turns the believer to a pacesetter.
Serving God, which essentially has to do with going after souls for Christ, is the capital prove of our love for God Jn. 21:15-17. And love for God sets the believer up as a pacesetter, empowering him for the manifestation of things that none has ever made to happen 1Cor. 2:9.
- Serving God puts the believer in command of the supernatural.
Serving God which we have established is essentially about the pursuit after God and the advancement of His kingdom, guarantees divine presence Mat. 28:19-20. And the effect of divine presence is that the believer is empowered to take command of the supernatural Mk. 16:20; Acts 16:25-30.
It is not just enough to be involved in serving God for one ot be entitled for the benefits. Serving God must be made the priority of the believer’s life, if the benefits will become the experience of the believer Mat. 6:33.
