From scriptures, we know that the church of Christ is ordained for supernatural and continuous growth Mat. 16:18. The scriptures further make us to understand that the church that will grow must be a praying church Isa. 66:7-8; Ezk. 36:37. From the bible days, every praying church is a growing church, and every growing church must remain a praying church so as to keep growing Acts 2:46-47. Someone may ask, why the much ado for church growth? This is because church growth is the heartbeat of God; pursuing church growth registers the believer as a man after God’s heart Acts 13:22. Engagement on the prayer altar, praying kingdom advancement is the way to pursue after church growth.

The power of prayer for church growth.

1. There cannot be sustained church growth with the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Lord of the harvest, who is behind salvation of sinners, influx into the church, and passion to abide in the church 1Cor. 12:3; Acts 2:2-6,41. The salvation of souls and getting them to church is the work of the Holy Spirit, which He does through the believer and not our effort Zch. 4:6.

• The Holy Spirit will only manifest Himself in response to our prayers.

It is on the prayer altar that we invoke the ministry of the Holy Spirit Lk. 11:13; Psa. 63:1-3. In essence, every church that will experience the ministry of the Holy Spirit for supernatural growth must engage the prayer altar to get the Holy Spirit to work Acts 2:1-6.

• The hold of the devil against salvation of the unsaved can only be destroyed on the prayer altar.

The devil is behind the refusal of the unsaved receiving salvation 2Cor. 4:3-4. If there will be church growth, the hold of Satan on the unsaved must be destroyed Lk. 11:21-22; Mat. 16:18. This demand that we invoke the power of the Holy Spirit to work, which we do as we engage the prayer altar Acts 4:30-33; Lk 11:13.

Prayer.                                                

Father in the name of Jesus, baptize me afresh with the Spirit of grace and supplication, thereby empower me for tireless kingdom advancement prayer investment Zch. 12:10.

Action.

Pray for the Holy Ghost to sweep over the church afresh, thereby bringing everyone ordained for salvation to Christ and the church today.
