Someone might ask what the big deal about church growth is. Is it not a fad by pastors to make a great name and money? The scriptures make us to understand that the growth of the church is the will of God Mat. 16:18. Also, it is one secret access of believers to the life of glory Jer. 30:19-21. The growth of the church is not for the good of God but the benefit of believers. This is because whether the church grows or not, God will still be God Exo. 3:14. But for the believer to experience the blessings of church growth, he must become a participant in driving the growth. From scriptures, the core demand for driving church growth is kingdom advancement focused prayer Mat. 6:9-10; Ezk. 36:37.

The Power of Prayer in Effecting Church Growth.

1. Prayer is the platform for guaranteed noiseless breakthrough in church growth.

The scriptures show us the oppositions against the growth of the church are never on break and won’t give up Mat. 16:18; 1Cor. 16:9. On the altar of prayer and fasting, we generate the power that makes the oppositions to submit, for the noiseless advancement of the church Lk. 4:1-2,14; Psa. 66:3. Nehemiah engaged this, and accomplished the feat of rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem within 52 days Neh. 1:1-14; 4:9-23.

• Prayer and fasting enhances divine guidance that result into supernatural church growth.

One of the benefits of prayer and fasting is access to divine guidance Isa. 58:6,11. When we are guided by God, the church is guaranteed to make progress in spite of what the situation may be Acts 16:6-10; Jn. 3:1-10.

Therefore, only a praying church will experience supernatural church growth. And a growing church must remain a praying church to keep growing.
