David was a man with his heart burning for God 1Sam. 13:14; Psa. 42:1. David could not stand the assault of Goliath against God and the army of Israel 1Sam. 17:26-27. This was a man everyone was afraid to confront, but David would rather die than watch Goliath defile God Isa. 17:32-50.
