Memory verse:
“My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. ”
- Pro. 23:26.
The scriptures make us to understand that our time is vital to our life on the earth. So the believer is instructed to apply wisdom in the use of his time Eph. 5:15-16; Col. 4:5. We have said it that time is one thing the devil fights to gain control over in the life of every man. The reason is because the way we use our time is a direct reflection of our heart or what controls our heart Psa. 90:12. In essence, whatever has the control of our time shows what is in control of our heart. And we understand from scriptures that the heart is the central control point of life Pro. 4:23; Matt. 12:35-37. Therefore, the instruction of scriptures that ‘my son, give me your heart’, is inherently placing a demand of the time of the believer. This is why we have said that one cannot claim to have a heart for God and not make his time available for Him and the things of His kingdom.
Our study this week has been on characters in the bible who rose from nothing to become giants. And our focus is on how their time engagement for God and the advancement of His kingdom contributed to their greatness. Be blessed with today’s teaching.
Example of Scriptural Giant made by Engaging their Time for God.
- David.
David was the eighth son and the last of his father Jesse, who God picked to become the king over His choice nation Israel 1Sam. 16:1,13. God chose David by reason of his heart for Him 1Sam. 13:14. David demonstrated his heart for God in the use of his time. As the most powerful king of his days, which we can liken to being the most powerful president today, with a schedule that will be very tight. David still had the time to go into the temple to pray three times and praise God seven times daily Psa. 55:17; 119:46,164. Obviously, God was first on David’s daily schedule, particularly with his time. This was why when God was looking for whom to hand the kingdom to when Saul faulted on the throne; He picked on the little David who seem not to have the criteria physically.
When a believer makes the choice to be all out for God from the heart, it will show in the way God and the affairs of His kingdom will take the priority in his time. And one cannot have time for God and not make remarkable marks on the earth 1Sam. 13:14.
