Memory verse:

“My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.”

  • Pro. 23:26.

From scriptures, we understand that the devil is constantly at war against the destiny of the believer Eph. 6:12. Christ had won the victory for us, but each believer has the responsibility to take delivery of his victory personally 2Cor. 2:14; Deu. 2:24. The challenge of many is that they are not aware of the strategy of the devil in this warfare. As long as one misses this, ones direction of engagement will be wrong making the believer a cheap victim. The target of the devil is time; he strives to have control of the time of the believer by making him use time his way Eph. 5:16; Col. 4:5. The way to win this war is to be intentional in using ones time to pursue after God and the interest of His kingdom Psa. 31:15. Every giant in scripture has this common secret, they were men that engaged their time for God and His kingdom.

Examples of giants in scriptures made through the right use of their time.

  1. The example of Nehemiah.

Nehemiah was a Jewish captive, working as the cup-bearer in the palace of Shushan Neh. 1:1. This situation he found himself would have made a man ordinarily to be downcast, and bemoan his lot. Rather, Nehemiah’s heart was after Jerusalem, which represents God’s house and heritage on the earth. He demonstrated this by his incessant quest to know the situation of Jerusalem and God’s people Neh. 1:2-5. He was not only interested in knowing, he committed himself to the rebuilt of Jerusalem and the wellbeing of the Jews Neh. 1:4-11; 2:1-9. The outcome was that Nehemiah had a dramatic change of his story from a captive to a governor, and this within 52 days Neh. 5:14. We really need a heart for God to make the most of our journey on the earth Psa. 112:1-3; Ecc. 12:13.
