NO CHURCH GROWS WITHOUT A PEOPLE ON THE GO PT. 3.

Memory verse:

“So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the

master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly

into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor,

and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.”

“And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and

 yet there is room.”

“And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and

hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”

  • Lk. 14:21.

We have established from scriptures that church growth is a combined or joint operation of both God, the builder of the church, and believers Heb. 3:4; Psa. 127:1-2. The responsibilities of believers are to plant and water, which will invoke God to effect the growth of the church 1Cor. 3:6-9. Therefore, a good understand of what ‘planting’ and ‘watering’ means is essential for church growth Eccl. 10:10,15.

God’s word is identified as the seed in God’s kingdom Lk. 8:8-11. In essence, planting refers to taking God’s word to the unsaved to present it to them thereby giving them the privilege of a decision for Christ. God’s word is the gospel of salvation Rms. 1:16. Often in scriptures, water refers to the Holy Spirit Ezk. 47:1-5. It is on the prayer altar we stir for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit Zch. 10:1; Acts 2:1-4. In essence. Watering is essentially about engaging the prayer altar for the release of the Holy Spirit, who has the mission to convict the sinners unto salvation and retention in the faith Gal. 4:19; Col. 4:!2.

Therefore, every church that will experience growth must become committed to being on the go for Christ Matt. 28:18-20.

Ways of Being on the Go for Christ towards Church Growth.

  1. A commitment to compel people to come to the church.

God’s house cannot be filled without His servants going out to compel people to the church Lk. 14:21-23. In essence, a church that has refuses to increase over a period, most likely is because the people are too ‘religious’ to compel men into that place. ‘Compel’ connotes engaging some level of pressure to get someone to do what you want.

  • A commitment to prayer until God repond.

The scriptures make us to understand that God is the d of increase, and specifically takes delight in the growth of His church 1Cor. 3:6; Matt. 16:18. Prayer is the platform to invoke the God of increase to work Jer. 33:£; Jn. 4:35-36. Therefore, to experience church growth, believers must get on the prayer altar and remain ther until they see growth in the church.
