Memory verse:
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”
- Jn. 15:16.
We understand from scriptures that church growth is not the ambition of a pastor, but the demand of God Mat. 16:18; Lk. 12:32. God is so much interested in the growth of His church that He didn’t delegate the responsibility to any angel, but took it up Himself Jer. 30:19. Remember, God legally cannot do anything on the earth without man’s permission and contribution Phm. 14. In essence, the church can never experience growth until believers accept their responsibility, and basic at this is being on go after lost souls Lk. 14:17-23.
Effective ways of being on the go for Christ.
- Understand that God’s house cannot be filled except believers go out to compel people to come.
The scriptures make us to understand that every man has been chosen by God to come to His house Psa. 65:4; 1Tim. 2:4. But only those that believers will compel will eventually show up in church Lk. 14:21-23. We must there engage in compelling invitation to see the church filled and grow.
- The church will only grow as we pray to the God of increase to step in.
From scriptures, we understand that increase comes only by God’s hand 1Cor. 3:6; Psa. 127:1-2. And the prayer altar is the place of invoking God to work, particularly for increase in the church Ezk. 36:37. Therefore, no church grows without praying for the God of increase to step in.
- It takes not being ashamed of the gospel to remain on the go.
Things work in God’s kingdom by the principle of continuity Gal. 6:9. We must remain committed to being on the go for Christ for our effort to draw the multitude into the church. This demands that we are not ashamed of the gospel Mk. 8:38; Rms. 1:16; Heb. 13:13.
We are in our harvest season; God has an expectation on each of us for the season and His reward for everyone that will be faithful Jer. 5:14.
