Memory verse:
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
- 12:12.
God’s kingdom to which we belong by redemption is a kingdom of rewards Rev. 22:12. It is the rewards of God that is called blessing, and it makes for the life of envy Pro. 10:22. God’s reward is not automatic for every believer, neither is it forced on anyone, it is kingdom labor that qualifies for the rewards Pro. 14:23. The kingdom labor that entitles for God’s rewards is labor after the salvation of the unsaved Jn. 15:16. Our obedience or disobedience to this demand of kingdom service is absolutely our choice, and it determines our ultimate experience as believers Deu. 30:19; Job 36:11.
Essential approach to make our labor deliver God’s reward.
- God’s responds to results obtained not just our engagement in a given task.
In essence, we should not celebrate our labor input, because it is not what moves God to reward us. We must labor to deliver result, it is result that God rewards Lk. 19:13-19,20-24.
- We are rewarded for the harvest gathered and not the contacts made.
We must understand that it is not how many souls we speak to or get saved that matters, but how many were eventually gathered into the church and established in the kingdom Jn. 4:35-36. Therefore, we must labor to see every soul we contact on the field gathered into the church.
- God does not reward groups, He rewards individuals.
In this kingdom, God deals with us on individual basis even in delivery of His rewards 1Cor. 3:8. In essence, we must mid ourselves as individuals, though we are encouraged to work in partnership or teams.
