God’s word makes us to understand that life is warfare, with the weapons to fight it Eph. 6:12-13. The weapon of warfare in the kingdom of God is not the same as that deployed in physical war, which must have physical features and abilities in order to appreciate their strength and power. Rather they are spiritual, without such physical attributes, but mighty when engaged in God with the capacity to crush any opposition in life 2Cor. 10:4-5. Many believers are often blinded to or despise the potency of these spiritual weapons at their disposal because of this, as they seek after weapons they can physically appreciate Jer. 2:12-18.

Scriptures show us that joy and rejoicing is a vital spiritual weapon of the kingdom for the believer Isa. 12:3. It has the capacity to deliver desired breakthroughs in life without fail Hab. 3:17-18. What is joy? It is not excitement because something good has happened; rather it is the virtue of excitement with life no matter what obtains in the physical. Like any other virtue in life, it is a choice to make and a commitment to sustain Deut. 30:19. A lot of believers fall into the error of expecting to be joyful automatically, or allowing the physical happening to define their joy. What is it about joy that makes it powerful?

The Power of Joy.

1. It is invokes God’s presence.

The scriptures make us to understand that the habitat for God is the atmosphere of joy and rejoicing Psa. 16:11. In essence, wherever there is true joy, God’s presence is drawn there automatically. And God’s presence is our guarantee for victory in every battle of life Psa. 24:7-10; Rms. 8:31. This means, one does not need to cry to God for His presence to manifest, just make the choice for joy and rejoicing and the believer will keep being victorious in life.

• It secures a life of fulfilment.

Joy is a ventilator, facilitator and catalyst in life. Everything in life requires joy for it to blossom and be fruitful Joel 1:11-12; Isa. 54:1-2; Deut. 28:47-48. In essence, the believer that loves to see his potentials deliver fully in life must make joyfulness his lifestyle, without which every potential may wither.

One factor that will help the believer to sustain his joy is to avoid comparison 1Cor. 10:12; 1Cor. 3:8. Comparing ourselves with others is a joy killer in life and a trigger of depression, which will always end in failure and destruction.  

Jesus is Lord!

Prayer.

Father in the name of Jesus, pour on me the oil of joy to keep the joy of the Lord flowing in me always henceforth Psa. 45:7.
