Memory verse:

“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but

 the labourers are few;”

“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

  • Mat. 9:37-38.

Scriptures make it clear that the church of Christ is ordained for continuous and supernatural growth, until it becomes a church of multitude Isa. 2:2-3; Matt. 16:18. But inadequate scriptural understanding of how to go about it has left many churches to struggle and labour in futility Eccl. 10:15. This has made churches to resign to the deceit of the devil that “narrow is the way and few are those that walk in it” Matt. 7:13-14. This mean that churches that command multitude are not given to godliness and scriptural lifestyle, it is why the multitude are found there.

The truth about supernatural church growth is that the Holy Spirit is the Lord of the harvest Matt. 7:37-38; Lk. 10:1-2. He must be engaged to harvest the souls of men, draw them into the church, and make them to abide for the church to command multitude Acts 2:1-6,41. When we try to do it in our wisdom, ability and effort, we are bound to fail 1Sam. 2:9; Matt. 16:18. Therefore, we need to understand how to invoke the Holy Spirit to work as the Lord of the harvest, then we will see that any church can be transformed into a church of multitude.

How the Holy Spirit Operates as the Lord of the harvest for Church Growth.

  1. The Holy Spirit empowers our passion for God Isa. 4:4-5; Jer. 20:9; Rms. 1:16.

When the Holy Spirit comes on a believer, he makes him to become restive towards kingdom advancement. And when believers a so driven by the Holy Spirit in pursuit after church growth, they command supernatural result. We saw this vividly all over the book of Acts of the Apostles Acts 2:14,37-41; 3:13; 4:1-5.

  • The Holy Spirit empowers believers with supernatural boldness in reaching out to the lost thereby leading many to Christ Acts 4:30-33; 9:34-35.

The reason why many churches don’t experience growth is because many of the members don’t have the boldness to speak about Christ to people. One thing the Holy Spirit does is that HE imparts the boldness on every member of the church, thereby resulting in the entire church storming the city with the gospel. This eventually culminate in the influx of multitude into the church.

We must understand that the Holy Spirit will not force Himself on the church as the Lord of the harvest. Every church that will experience Him as such has the responsibility to invoke the Him as the Lord of the harvest. And one way to do this is making the demand on the altar of prayer Acts 4:31-33.

Jesus is Lord!

Prayer.

Father in the name of Jesus, we demand for the outpouring and move of the Holy Spirit in a new way in this land begin with this church, resulting in the drafting of every unsaved across the land in to this church come next Sunday Acts 2:6.

Action.

Pray for a fresh release of the Holy Spirit on this assembly; for every member to be empowered with new level of passion for souls and boldness to witness Christ like never before henceforth.

Priestly Blessings.
