Memory verse:
“So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,”
“And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.”
- 1Kgs. 18:42,46.
Church growth is God’s will and it can only be delivered by the hand of God Mat. 16:18; Psa. 127:1-2. But to secure God’s hand to work for the growth of the church, believers must accept the responsibility of intense and continuous prayer engagement 1Kgs. 18:41-46; Acts 6:4,7. The growth of the church is what nothing is powerful enough to prevent or stop, when the church will take up the responsibility of engaging the prayer altar. This is why prayer is the life-wire of every growing church, both in bible and present time Jer. 6:16-17.
The power of prayer in invoking sustainable and supernatural church growth.
- Prayer invokes the ministry of reaper-angels.
The angels are vital for church growth, with the scriptures identifying them as the reapers to facilitate the growth of the church in supernatural dimension Mat. 13:39; Rev. 14:14,16. Prayer is the principal channel to invoke them to work Mat. 26:53.
- Angels excel in the strength essential for supernatural church growth.
Church growth requires power, because it is against the gates of hell Mat. 16:18. When we pray the word of God, we invoke angels of the Lord Psa. 103:20. The angels come in the might of the word, thereby they excel in the supernatural strength to effect the supernatural multiplication of the church Isa. 37:36.
- Prayer and fasting guarantee breakthrough of the church.
Whatever is the gate of hell against the growth of the church will submit to the combined forces of faith, prayer and fasting 2Cor. 4:4; Mat. 17:21; Isa. 58:6.
Therefore, prayer and fasting is a covenant platform for noiseless breakthrough in church growth Acts 2:1-6,37-41.
