Memory verse:
“So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,”
“And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.”
- 1Kgs. 18:42,46.
The will of God is the sustainable and supernatural growth of His church Mat. 16:18; Pro. 4:18. We must not accept any reason for lack of growth of the church, they are simply the operation of the gates of hell. But the growth of the church can only be achieved by the hand of God at work Psa. 127:1-2; Jn. 6:44. And securing God’s hand to work is by accepting the responsibility of engaging the prayer altar with faith as Elijah did 1Kgs. 18:41-46.
The power of prayer in invoking sustainable and supernatural church growth.
- Prayer invokes supernatural power that births growth.
The prayer altar is the altar of generating power, which will result in supernatural multiplication of the church Acts 4:30-33; 4:4-5. In essence, whatever cannot stop the church from praying, cannot stop the church from growing Isa. 66:7-8; Acts 6:4,7.
- Prayer invokes the God of increase to work.
We have said church growth is by the hand of God 1Cor. 3:6. It takes the prayer of faith to engage the God of increase to work for the supernatural multiplication of His church Psa. 2:8; Jms. 4:2.
- Prayer has the capacity of taking over territories for Christ.
Any church that sustains praying kingdom advancement prayer is guaranteed to take any desired territory for Christ any time any day Acts 2:46-47; 5:28.
Therefore, we can confidently say that prayer is the life-wire for sustainable and supernatural growth of the church, either in bible times or in our present days Jer. 6:16-17.
