By redemption the believer is restored to the life of dominion that man was originally created to enjoy on the earth Gen. 1:28; Jn. 10:10. Particularly, the end-time church is ordained as a reigning church for dominion in all spheres of life, including sickness, disease, affliction etc. Psa. 110:1-3; Jer. 30:17; Isa. 33:24. But we need a good understanding of the weapons God has made available to us for this dominion to be a reality in our lives Psa. 119:144; Pro. 21:16. These weapons are not carnal but mighty; therefore, we must not despise them nor allow anyone to do so 2Cor. 11:3; 2Cor. 10:3-6; 1Sam 17:42-50.

Understanding the Root of Sicknesses and Diseases.

The scriptures make us to understand that behind sicknesses and diseases are spirits, and they must be dealt with for the believer to have dominion over sickness and disease Mat. 8:16. What are the spirits behind sickness and disease?

i) The spirit of fear.

This is the commonest, it opens an individual to anything that can torment including sickness, disease etc. Heb. 2:14-15; 2Tim. 1:7. Job was tormented with all manner of sicknesses and evil because he allowed the spirit of fear in his life Job 3:24-25.

ii) The spirit of deformity.

According to its name, this spirit will make the victim to be deformed in certain aspect of his life; it is often behind physical disabilities Lk. 13:11-16; Acts 3:7.

Provisions to Walk in Dominion over sicknesses and Diseases.

1. The word of God.

While Jesus is the great physician, God’s word is the balm in Gilead that guarantees healing, health and wholeness of the believer Jer. 8:20-22; Pro. 4:20-22; Psa. 107:20. God’s word is Spirit; therefore, it is what can handle the challenge of sickness with a spirit-root Jn. 6:63.

How the Word Empowers for Dominion over Sickness and Disease?

i) The word imparts with light.

In the word of God is light, when the light of God’s word breaks forth, the believer’s health springs up speedily Jn. 1:1-4; Isa. 58:8. Remember, the dominion of light over darkness is instant and unquestionable Jn. 1:5. Therefore, everyone that desires to walk in dominion over sicknesses and diseases must seek after being lighted by God’s word.

What is in the Word that Heals?

1. The word is medicinal.

This means God’s word has the capacity to make impact on the flesh of man and take out anything that is out of place Pro. 4:20-22; Job 33:21-25.

2. The word is surgical.

The word has the capacity to cut through the body of man, locate any disorder and restore order Heb. 4:12; Gen. 2:21-22.

3. The word is creative.

The word has the power to create, this means it can make new thing to come into existence Jn. 1:1-3; Gen. 1:3-31. Therefore, when any organ of the body fails or is missing, the word has the capacity to create a new one to restore the individual to health and wholeness Acts 3:6-9; Mat. 9:27-29.

4. The word is prophetic.

The word has the power to bring whatever it says into fulfilment Isa. 55:10-11; 2Pet. 1:20-21. When we receive and believe what God’s word says on health, we make it to come to fulfilment in our body; this empowers us to walk in dominion over sickness in life Ezk. 37:1-14.

5. The word quickens our human body.

Quicken means to give life; this is what God’s word does thereby terminating every form of death in the believer’s life Jn. 6:63; Isa. 58:8.

In conclusion, sicknesses and diseases are enemies; they rob the victim of a life of beauty, color and glory Job 33:21-25. The good news is that any man can walk in dominion over them. It is simply by making the choice for it, and committing to the required demands.

Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me, thank you Jesus for restoring me, thank you Jesus for saving me. Amen!”

Prayer.

1. Father in the name of Jesus, let the light of your word shine in to my life, and thereby empower me for dominion over sickness and disease from now 1:5.
2. Father in the name of Jesus, by your word impart me with divine nature, thereby cause me to walk in dominion over sickness and disease from today 1:4.
