By redemption, believers are not to suffer what the world around suffers (Gal. 6:17). Like: economic depression, famine, storms of evil, marital crises, the scourge of divorce, high risks of health breakdown etc. The Israelites in Egypt are vivid examples of divine exemption, as they were exempted from all plagues (Exo. 8:20-24; 9:1-7,18-24; 10:21-23; 11:4-7). Scripture shows that covenant people flourish in hard times, as they accept responsibility for their lives (Gen. 47:15-27; Psa. 33:18-19).

Covenant Responsibilities for Our Exemption.

  1. Be Genuinely Born Again.

At salvation, a person receives Jesus Christ who is the Light of the world into his life (Jn. 8:12; 1:9). By His light, the individual is marked for exemption from all evil in life (Rms. 14:17; Jn. 3:3-5).

  1. Have a Revelation of Exemption in Christ.

In this kingdom, it is only what we see that we can experience (Gen. 13:14-15; Jer. 1:11-12). This means that to experience exemption, a believer must labor in the word and to catch revelation of his identity in Christ for exemption (Exo. 19:5; 1Pet. 2:9).

  1. Develop a Covenant-exemption Mentality.

The mindset of each person in this kingdom determines his portion, experience, and outcome ultimately (Pro. 4:23; 23:7). Everyone who desires to experience exemption must cultivate the mindset for exemption by filling his thoughts and mind with God’s word on exemption (Php. 4:8; Col. 3:16).

  1. Keep the Love of God Alive in Your Heart.

Love for God is the strongest force in life; when it is established in the heart, every evil bows to the individual (1Cor. 13;13; 2:9; Rms. 8:28). Love is a decision; everyone who desires exemption must make the decision to love God above all (Mat. 6:24; Jn. 21:15-17).

  1. Commit to Serve God as a Priority in Life.

Serving God guarantees all-round rest in life, thereby exempting from whatever troubles others (2Chr. 15:12-15; Mat. 6:33). Serving God is not just being involved in activities but engaging in things that bring growth to the church and advancement to God’s kingdom (Acts 2:44-47).

Conclusion.

We live in a world full of evil, but there is the guarantee of exemption from all evil for everyone who accepts responsibility. You will never know evil in your life again as you take up covenant responsibility today!

Salvation Prayer.

To anyone reading this who desires to give their life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me; on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you, Jesus, for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me. Amen!”

Prayer.

  1. Father, I embrace the covenant responsibilities for divine exemption–empower me by your Spirit to remain committed to the end (Act 26:22).
