Vision is a discovery of divine plan as it relates to an individual or a people (Hab. 2:1-3; Jer. 29:11). It is a picture of the future we access through either divine encounter or as captured from scriptures (Exo. 3:3-10; Isa. 2:1-2). It is not a goal one sets or a thing to formulated, but a future to discover (Hab. 2:1).
Why Do We Need Vision?
This refers to the significance or importance of vision.
- To Realize Our Glorious Destiny in Christ.
Walking in the way a person likes or seems good to him has no guarantee; rather it may end in catastrophe (Pro. 14:12; 16:25). We must commit our ways to the Lord, for our glorious destiny in Christ to be realized (Psa. 37:5).
- To Secure God’s Backing.
God is committed and will back only His plan in our lives, not our plans (Jon. 1:1-4; 1Ths. 5:24). God’s backing is the script for success and fulfilment (Rms. 8:31; Exo. 33:14-15).
How to Access God’s Vision for Our Lives.
- Be Watchful in the Spirit.
“Watchful” implies being alert, sensitive, looking out for a particular thing. This posture in the Spirit by believers moves God to reveal His plan for that individual’s life to him (Gal. 5:25; Rev. 1:10).
- Be Committed to Searching.
Only those who commit to searching ever find things from God (Deu. 29:29; Pro. 25:2; Mat. 7:7-8). A believer who will access divine vision must keep searching the scriptures and other relevant resources on subjects like the word, the Holy Spirit, divine direction, ans God’s plan (Psa. 119:105; Rms. 8:14,16; Heb. 13:7).
Biblical Proofs of a True Vision.
These are ways to ascertain that the vision one has received is truly from God.
- God Goes Before the Person.
When it is truly God’s plan and purpose, God is stirred to go ahead of the individual (Isa. 45:1-3; Jn. 10:4-5). This is the guarantee of the success of vision.
- God Goes with the Person.
Doing what God commands commits God’s working presence with the individual all the way (Mat. 28:18-20; Lk. 10:1-2,17-20; Heb. 13:5). This working presence of God is the secret to fulfilment in the journey of life.
- God Works with You.
Every true vision from God enjoys God’s active presence, which makes for supernatural results and outcomes (Mk. 16:15-16,20; 1Cor. 3:6,9).
Conclusion.
Discovery of God’s plan and purpose is good, but until one pursues vision, it never becomes fulfilled (1Cor. 9:24). Pursuit is what gives value to vision; it is the force that gives motion to purpose. It makes vision work (Hab. 2:3).
Salvation Prayer.
To anyone reading this who desires to give their life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart:
“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me; on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you, Jesus, for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me. Amen!”
Prayer.
- Father, reveal your plan and purpose for my life on the earth to me right now, thereby turning my life into a wonder among men from now (Jer. 33:3).
- Father, by your Spirit, empower me to receive, believe, and pursue my God given vision to fulfilment (Hab. 2:3).

Man is a product of God; this simply means every man is made by God (Psa. 100:3; Gen. 1:26-27). Just like every manufacturer has a purpose for each of his products, God has a clearly defined plan and purpose for each person He created (Jer. 1:5; Gal. 1:15-16; Eph. 1:3-5,11-12). Vision is one way God […]
Every man is created by God with a definite plan and purpose for his life, an understanding of this plan and purpose is vital for its actualization (Jer. 1:5; Eph. 1:3-5,11-12). The two principal ways God’s plan is unveiled are: through the Word referred to as revelation (Psa. 119:105), and through an encounter with God […]
God’s Word is loaded with wonders; encounters with the Word make a wonder of a believer (Psa. 119:18,130; Isa. 60:1-3). What believers need is labor in the Word for their eyes to open to the wonders in it (2Cor. 3:18). Some of the Wonders in the Word? The Wonder of Direction. God’s Word is the […]
Redemption brought believers out of the miry clay into the life of wonders (Isa. 8:18). God’s Word is the depot of these wonders; how much his eyes are opened to see determines the amount of wonders he will experience (Gen. 13:14-15; Psa. 119:18). A believer is not designed to struggle to experience a life of […]
