Without a guide in life, a man is heading for a most frustrating and miserable experience Jer. 10:23-24; Ecc. 10:15; Pro. 14:12. It is not enough to have a guide, more important is for the guide to be right and reliable Mat. 15:14. We have established from scriptures that the bible is the true guide and the most reliable for life Psa. 119:105.

What makes the Bible a Reliable Guide?

  1. The bible is the manual for commanding exploits in life.

Remember, the bible is not a history text, it is the manual where God gives the instruction to make the most of life Jos. 1:8. When the instruction of the bible is followed, man is guaranteed to make outstanding mark in life Deu. 28:1-13.

  1. The bible is the manual with spiritual seeds.

The bible does not only contain instruction, it also has spiritual seed that are indestructible Lk. 8:11; 1Pet. 1:23. These spiritual seeds like the natural seeds will reproduce in the life of whoever receives, plants and nurtures them Mat. 13:31-32. In essence, with the words of the bible, the believer can give a desired shape to his life.

  1. The bible is the manual with unlimited capacity to create.

The bible does not contain only instruction and spiritual seed, but also has unlimited creative capacity Jn. 1:1-3. When a man receives and believes what it says, this manual will make happen what has never happened before in life Jn. 1:12; Gen. 1:1-31. In essence, with the bible the believer has unlimited capacity to make things happen in life.

Requirements for Being Guided by the Bible.

There are demands that must be fulfilled before the believer can access the guidance offered in the bible.

  1. Diligent study and meditation of the word.

We must give ourselves to diligent study and meditation of the bible, particularly in the areas of interest, for us to access the guidance it offers 2Tim. 2:15; 1Tim. 4:13,15; Psa.119:97-98.

  1. Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit as we study and meditate.

It is when the believer gains understanding of what the bible says that he can be guided on what to do Acts 8:30-31,36-37. This is why we must invite the Holy Spirit to our study and meditation sessions, and be sensitive to the interpretation the Holy Spirit will give on the scriptures 1Cor. 2:10-14; Jn. 16:13-14.

How Does the Bible Guide the Believer?

  1. The bible speaks to the believer.

Behind every written word of scriptures is the voice of God that spoke it initially Psa. 29:4-5; Isa. 34:16. The bible guides through that voice, which is what we call revelation or rhema or the “spoken word of God” Jn. 1:1-5.

  1. The bible provides information for making decisions in life.

The bible provides essential facts that enables the believe to make the right decision on all issues of life Pro. 3:5-6; Psa. 119:105.

In conclusion, life is not designed to make the believer miserable or frustrated. But each one has the responsibility if that will become his experience, and this responsibility is to commit to the guidance of the bible.

To anyone reading this that will love to give his/her life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me; on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you, Jesus, for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for

Prayer.

  1. Father in the name of Jesus, endue me with grace for diligent study and meditation of the bible, thereby giving me access to continuous divine guidance from now 2:15.
  2. Father in the name of Jesus, deliver me from everything that blocks my access to this guidance the bible offers 2:14.
  3. Father in the name of Jesus, I make the commitment to walk only by the light of God’s word from today 1:4.
