Every man that desires to make the most of his life on the earth must understand the need for divine guidance Isa. 48:17,21. But understanding how God leads is fundamental to being divinely guided, the ignorance of this can be costly Jer. 2:14-17; Isa. 30:1-2. The ultimate guide in life is the bible; in essence, any one that desires God’s guidance in life on any issue needs only to get into the bible Deu. 28:1-2; Psa. 119:105; 2Tim. 3:16-17.

What makes the Bible a Reliable Guide?

  1. The bible is the creator’s manual for profitable living.

All things were created by God Rev. 4:11; Jn. 1:3; Pro. 16:4. Like every manufacturer has a manual to guide in the effective use of his product, God has the manual to guide us in making the most of our life and everything He made, and this is the bible 2Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:2. To be guided by God in life, we only need to consult the creator’s manual and apply its content to our lives Jos. 1:8.

  1. The instruction of scriptures makes wise and make a star out of any believer.

Whatever the bible says makes a man to manifest wisdom when it is put to work Mat. 7:24-27; Psa. 19:7. Wisdom will make a star out of any man Ecc. 8:1; Dan. 12:3.

  1. The creator’s manual delivers under all circumstances, equal or unequal.

In essence, whether the circumstances are equal or not, what the bible says will deliver the result it promises Mat. 24:35; Isa. 34:16. The circumstances of life do not determine the effectiveness of God’s word, rather they bow to its authority. Therefore, following what the bible says has the guarantee of producing result without failure.

Requirements for being Guided by the Bible.

  1. Be born again.

Until an individual becomes a true child of God, God’s word cannot make meaning to him and cannot receive guidance by it Mk. 4:11. Just like it takes the chicken to understand the mother’s hen sound, and a puppy to understand the mother dog’s sound. So also, it will take a true child of God to make meaning of God’s word and receive guidance through it Jn. 10:4-5,27. When the bible seems not to make meaning to you when you read it, it is an indication that you need to be born again Jn. 3:3.

  1. Be clothed with meekness.

Meekness is a vital requirement to access divine guidance through God’s guidebook, the bible Psa. 23:9,12. What is meekness? It is the quality of being open to correction and learning. Only those who rejoice and embrace God’s correction and instruction that are guaranteed to enjoy the opening up of scriptures for guidance Isa. 29:11; Rev. 5:1-5. In essence, make the choice for meekness in order to access God’s guidance through the word.

How Does the Bible Guide the Believer?

  1. It shows the right way to go in every aspect of life.

The bible speaks on all areas of life to shed the light of God, thereby showing man the right step to take on every issue Psa. 119:105; Mat.11:28-29. In essence, when the bible says a thing, it is the right way to follow to get result.

  1. It reproofs and corrects to keep us on track in life.

Maintaining the right path in life is vital to arrive at the right end Pro. 14:12; 16:25. Reproof means expression of disapproval and misalignment, while correction is to rectify an error or effect a change that brings into proper alignment. The bible does not tell stories and history, its main task is to reproof and correct on how to go about life, thereby it keeps us on the right path that will lead to success and greatness 2Tim. 3:16-17; Pro. 4:11-13.

In conclusion, many out of ignorance are searching for God’s guidance everywhere, whereas it is just by them, in the creator’s manual; the bible. The challenge is that many are too lazy to search the manual themselves, it is time that we accept the responsibility to search the bible, know what God says and be guided by God through it.

Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for
