Memory verse:
“And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves..” – Mk. 11:17.
God’s house is ordained as a house of prayer in all nations of the earth Mk. 11:17; Mat. 21:13. It means that prayer is the purpose and core assignment of the church that will be the change agent to the world. Interestingly, every believer is identified in scriptures as God’s building, which makes him to be a house of prayer 1Cor. 3:9,16. This means that prayer must be the core of believer’s life. This is why the bible instructs believers to pray without ceasing 1Ths. 5:17; Lk. 18:1.
Scriptural Example of Giants made through the Lifestyle of Prayer.
- Daniel.
Daniel was a Jewish youth who was taken as war captive into Babylon Dan. 1:3-6. In Babylon, he became an administrator and eventually the prime minister Dan. 2:48; 6:3. Yet, Daniel was a notable servant of God, being a tireless intercessor Dan. 6:10,20. This was the secret for his rise to greatness, even in a foreign land.
What Are We to Pray?
- For Salvation of Souls.
We need to put up a fight of faith to disarm the enemy holding the unsaved captive, for us to see them receive salvation Lk. 11:21-22; Isa. 49:24-26. We must therefore continue to pray in order to see souls saved across our harvest field Jn. 16:7-11.
Commitment to kingdom advancement prayer as a lifestyle is a scriptural instruction to believers Mat. 6:9-10. Doing what God commands empowers us for supernatural change of levels Deu. 28:1-2; Lk. 19:15-19.
