What are barriers?
A barrier is anything that can stop, prevent or hinder progress, movement or access. When an individual is not making the desired progress, a barrier is responsible. When an individual is stagnated, or tied down in life, a barrier is responsible.
What are the types of barriers?
- Physical barrier.
These are substances that are barriers; they can be seen and touched Zch. 4:7. The wall of Jericho was a barrier before Israel stepping into the promise land. Jos. 6:1-5.
- Mental barrier.
These are mentality that constitutes barriers 2Cor. 10:4-5.It was the mentality of the Israelite that actually stopped them, except for Joshua and Caleb, from stepping into the promise land Num. 13:25-33; 14:1-10,21-30.
- Spiritual barrier.
These are unseen forces that constitute barriers. Lk 10:19; Mat 13:28; Deu. 2:4. It was the gods of Egypt that was holding the Israelite all the while, not really Pharaoh Exo. 12:12.
Barriers in life are essentially invisible; out of the three types we listed, two are invisible. Often, behind every physical barrier is an invisible force, which is the strength for the physical barrier. In essence, invisible barriers are real! The good news is that redemption has empowered the believer to clear off all barriers from his path Isa 52:1-3; 1Jn 4:4.
Covenant Forces for Breaking Invisible Barriers.
- Be born again and remain so.
Salvation translates the believer into the status that no barrier can handle Eph 2:5-6; 1;20-21. In essence, when one becomes truly born again, every barrier losses power over his life.
- Keep walking in the light of God’s word.
In life, we are often a victim of what we can’t see Hos. 4:6; Isa. 5:31. God’s word is the light of life, which empowers the believer to handle the barriers of life Jn. 1:5; 1Ths 5:5.
- Keep walking by faith.
Faith is confidence in God that moves the believer to obey whatever God says despite what he sees. Faith empowers the believer to crush every barrier, and make progress in life 2Cor. 5:7; Eph. 6:16; 1Jn. 5:4.
- Keep serving God and the interest of His kingdom.
Serving God is commitment o kingdom advancement endeavor, which has the power to clear off all barriers before the believer 2Chr. 15:12-15. When the Israelite decided to serve God, the gods of Egypt and Pharaoh standing against them were cleared off Exo. 4:22-23; 12:12.
- Keep following God’s leading.
When the believer follows the path that God leads him, all barriers are cleared off Psa. 23:1-6; 24:7-10. In essence, walking in divine direction is walking in barrier-free zone of life. This is the wisdom for handling physical barriers especially.
- Keep speaking boldly against the barriers.
Everything in life has ears, and will respond when we speak to it as believers Mk. 11:23. The believer must keep speaking boldly against the barriers to have them cleared off his path Lk. 21:15; Psa. 18:44-46.
- Engage the lifestyle of praise.
The lifestyle of praise secures God’s presence, which guarantees the clearing off all barriers Psa. 22:3; 24:7-10; 114:1-8. The enemy will fight the believer’s praise; the intention is to keep him tired down in life. Don’t allow the enemy, make the choice to always be full of praise and you will keep breaking through in life.
In conclusion, barriers are real, but your breakthrough all the time is more real! Whatever is the barrier that has held you down is giving way now.
To anyone reading this that will love to give his/her life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for
Prayer.
Father in the name of Jesus, every barrier (visible and invisible) loses their hold on my life now and forever Mk. 11:23.
