The believer by redemption is designed to enjoy a glorious life Rms. 8:29-30; 2Pet. 1:3. A glorious life is one where there is no shame, evil or negative occurrence. Thanksgiving is a key covenant demand for the believer to experience this order of life; thanking God both in and out of season Jer. 30:19.

What is Thanksgiving?

1. Thanksgiving is the appreciation of the present in anticipation of the future Jn. 6:6-11; 11:41-44.

This is either the present is good and thank God for it, or not good and thank God that it is not worse. This is how to secure a future that is better.

• Thanksgiving is pleasing unto God Psa. 33:1; 69:30-31; 147:1.

In essence, whatever the believer does that is pleasing to God thanksgiving or a form of it. For the believer’s thanksgiving to touch God and move Him, it must be from the heart. And this demands that one have a clear understanding of the reason for the thanksgiving.

What are We Thanking God For?

1. He is the source of every good thing and increase that we experience 1Cor. 4:7; Jn. 3:31.

It is God’s input and blessing that makes our effort to count, without which all efforts are futile. So we appreciate God for His input that has brought the increase we see.

• In anticipation of perfection of all that concerns us Psa. 138:8; Lk. 17:12-19.

God has a great future for everyone, and He is committed to make it become the reality in each life. But we must understand that our thanksgiving is what invoke God’s commitment.

• For building a wall of fire around us against all satanic assaults Zch. 2:4-5,8; Rms. 8:32.

The enemy has not been able to destroy us because of God, so we need to thank Him for this.

Benefits of Thanksgiving.

What we don’t expect, we can’t experience. In essence, we need an understanding of the benefits in thanksgiving.

1. It guarantees speedy answer to payers Php. 4:6; 1Ths. 5:18; Heb. 10:36.

Thanksgiving is doing the will of God, when we do this, God does our will in return.

1. It empowers the believer to scale new heights without stress Psa. 92:1-2,13; Hab. 3:17-19.

Thanksgiving will always trigger God’s power, which clears off obstacles resulting in the believer scaling new height.

1. It secures God’s blessings upon our lives Psa. 67:5-7; Jer. 13:15-17; Mal. 2:1-3.

It is not enough to receive God’s blessing, we must understand how to secure the blessing else they can be turned to a curse. It is by thanking God that God’s blessing is secured and preserved.

In conclusion, life and experiences on the earth is absolutely determined by individuals, by our choices, which defines our actions. The choice to keep thanking God no matter the situation is the wisdom for a glorious life. Receive God’s grace for the life of thanksgiving now!
