Every man is created by God with a definite plan and purpose for his life, an understanding of this plan and purpose is vital for its actualization (Jer. 1:5; Eph. 1:3-5,11-12). The two principal ways God’s plan is unveiled are: through the Word referred to as revelation (Psa. 119:105), and through an encounter with God referred to as vision (Hab. 2:1-3; Exo. 3:7-10).

Why Do We Need Vision?

This means, the significance or importance of vision.

1. To Ensure Walking on the Right Path.

One is either on the right path or the wrong; vision shows us the right path to follow in life (Jer. 6:16; Acts 11:5; 18:9). Walking on the right path is the secret to experiencing a right and great life (Ezr. 8:21-23; Pro. 14:12).

2. To Secure a Glorious Future.

No one knows tomorrow like God who creates it, and no one knows the future like the one who owns it (Psa. 23:1-6; Isa. 46:9-10; Jer. 29:11; Jms. 4:13-15,16). Vision reveals the tomorrow God has created, thereby enabling a believer to walk towards it.

How to Access God’s Vision for Our Lives.

1. Desire Access to Vision.

A desire in the heart is fundamental to gain access to anything with God, including vision (Pro. 18:1; Mk. 11:24). This means that for one to secure God’s vision for one’s life, there must be a burning desire for it in the heart (Pro. 3:5-6; Rev. 1:9-10).

2. Engage the Altar of Prayer.

The prayer altar guarantees access to the vision of God for one’s life any time, any day (Jer. 33:3). Scripture promises God’s spontaneous response to everyone who sincerely ask to know God’s vision for his life (Hab. 2:1-3; Mat. 7:7-8).

Biblical Proofs of a True Vision.

These are ways to ascertain that the vision one has received is truly from God.

1. When the Vision Drives the Visionary.

Every true vision from God drives the visionary; it makes him restive until it is accomplished (Hab. 2:2-4). This implies that when a vision is truly from God, it will ignite fire in the person, which makes him not able to sit quite until the task is delivered (Jer. 20:9; Gen. 12:1-4).

2. When it Allays All Fears.

Every true vision is free of fear, no matter the situation or obvious challenges (Exo. 3:7-10; 4:22-23). When it is the vision from God, it puts the individual to rest on everything concerning the vision (Pro. 29:25).

3. When it Imparts Confidence.

Every true vision imbues or imparts confidence; it makes the visionary daring (Acts 26:19; Php. 1:21; 3:3). This confidence empowers the individual for exploits (Dan. 6:8-10; Acts 28:3-6).
