God’s will for every believer is sanctification; in essence, sanctification is an instruction or a commandment by God to the believer 1Ths. 4:3. Remember, God only gives instruction of what He has released the grace and power for its accomplishment 1Jn. 5:3. The believer only need to make the choice for it, and the grace is activated for its delivery Deu. 30:19. What is sanctification? It is setting oneself apart from every sin and ungodly thing, to a life of holiness unto God 2Tim. 2:19-21.
The Cost of Ungodliness.
A good understanding of what one give in exchange for sin and ungodly practice will empower the decision to stay off sin Isa. 1:18.
- It opens the doors to sickness and disease.
Sin was the doorway of sickness and disease into man’s life; in essence, sickness and disease never had access to man until sin came into man Jms. 5:14-15. Every time the believer puts his hand into ungodliness, he has opened the door of his life to sickness and disease 1Cor. 3:16-17; Mk. 2:5-11.
- It blocks access to supernatural breakthroughs.
Breakthrough means advancement in life despite the obstacles, oppositions, and limitations Exo. 14:15. Every life is confronted with diverse oppositions; but don’t have the power to stop the believer Exo. 14:2,10,15. Sin is what hinders breakthrough not the obstacles really 1Cor. 16:9; Isa. 60:1-3; Pro. 1:23.
- It blocks access to eternity with Christ.
There is life after here on the earth, it either with Christ or without Christ, and it has no end Mk. 9:44,46. Eternity with Christ is characterized by no pain, no worry, etc. and life with no end, while eternity without Christ is the total opposite of this Rev. 21:3-4. Sin is what will make a man to miss out of eternity with Christ Rev. 21:8; 1Cor. 6:9-11; Mat. 7:22-25.
The answer to sin:
Repentance is the answer to sin Acts 2:37-38. It is the mystery of godliness that rescues from the dungeon of sin, no matter how deep 1Kgs. 21:25-27. What is repentance? It means:
- To acknowledge one’s life of sin 1:8.
- To be sorry for one’s life of sin 7:10.
- To openly confess and seek God for forgiveness 1:9-10.
- To decide never to return to it again 5:14; 8:11.
Benefits of Sanctification.
- It secures peace and serenity.
Godliness shields the believer from troubles and calamities, it settles the believer’s life in peace Isa. 32:7-15; 59:8; Pro. 28:1.
- It secures divine honor.
Honor means the experience of being treated with high esteem and respect. Sanctification earns for the believer high esteem and regards in life 2Tim. 2:19-21.
Pathways to Sanctification.
In essence, the demands the believer must embrace in order to walk in sanctification.
- Crave for the endowment of the Spirit of holiness.
It takes empowerment by the Spirit of God to be free from the power of sin and the flesh Rms. 8:1-2,13; 1:4. Access to the Spirit of holiness is by demand on the prayer altar Lk. 11:13.
- Engage the power of the blood for our rescue.
The blood of Jesus has the power to set a man free from the hold of sin, thereby enabling him to walk in sanctification Rev. 12:11; Heb. 9:14; Zch. 9:11-12.
- Continue in fellowship with the saints.
Fellowship is the gathering of saints to worship God, it is mysterious Heb. 12:22-24. One basic mystery of fellowship is that it imparts strength, which empowers for sanctification among others Psa. 84:7; Heb. 3:13; 10:25.
- Engage the force of faith.
Everything in the kingdom answer to, and can only be accessed through faith Mk. 9:23. In essence, a sanctified life will only be possible through building faith in God Heb. 11:6; Rms. 10:17.
In conclusion, sanctification is a possibility, but only for the believer that accept responsibility. When sanctification is a reality, glory will be the undeniable experience in life Exo. 15:11.
To anyone reading this that will love to give his/her life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for
Prayer.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, consume me with your fire and cause everything that defiles to be burnt off in my life 12:29.
- Father in the name of Jesus, I receive the grace to walk in the pathway of sanctification from today and the rest of my life 15:10.
