What is destiny? Destiny is making a reality what one has come to understand as God’s pre-determined plan for one’s life on the earth Isa. 14:24; Jer. 1:5; 29:11. Every true child of God is a child of destiny Rms. 8:29-30. In essence, being born again is not an introduction into a religion, rather it is accepting to step into the life pre-determined by God for the individual on the earth.
The Destiny of the Believer in Christ.
- A royal destiny.
When an individual comes into Christ, he is brought into the life of royalty Rev. 5:9-10. Christ makes the believer a seed of Abraham, and every seed of Abraham is ordained a king in life Gal. 3:29; Gen. 17:4-6.
- A super healthy destiny.
Christ took all the torture in His body at crucifixion to secure for the believer the life that nothing has the power to afflict his body again Isa. 53:4-5; 1Pet. 2:24. In essence, God has prepared the life of divine health for the believer in Christ.
It is salvation that makes an individual to qualify for the destiny in Christ, it is therefore important to be sure of one’s salvation.
How Do I Know I am Saved?
- Through the manifestations of the fruit of the Spirit.
At salvation, the spirit of man is restored to life or regenerated Rms. 6:2,11. This is evidenced with the individual manifesting the traits of a living spirit, referred to as the fruit of the spirit Gal. 5:22-23. There are nine (9) of them, but two of focus today are:
- i)
This is the virtue of being able to believe whatever that God says, even when it seems weird Gen. 12:1-4; 15:6-7; Rms. 12:3; 10:14-17.
- ii)
This is the virtue of doing what is right according to God’s standard, no matter what the world and men say 2Cor. 5:21; 1Jn. 3:7.
- Through supernatural rescue from the works of the flesh.
At salvation, the flesh of man died, hence all its works ought to be terminated as a proof Gal. 5:19-20. There are many of them, but two of focus today are:
- i)
This is the feeling of resentment towards someone because of what the person has, which you don’t Rms. 13:13; 1Cor. 3:3-4.
- ii)
This is the temporal state resulting from excessive consumption of liquid food 1Cor. 6:9-10; Gal. 5:21. Notice that it is not about alcohol only, but the lack of discipline in appetite for drinks.
Keys to Realizing our Colorful Destiny in Christ.
Realizing one’s glorious destiny in Christ is not automatic, it demands taking responsibility. What are the responsibilities?
- Make a project of any issue of concern through the study of the word.
God’s word contains everything about the destiny of the believer in Christ, but it demands accepting the responsibility of digging into the word, to find, and believe it, for it to become the reality Pro. 20:27; Isa. 26:3. The prodigal son sat down, thinking in the word for the restoration of his destiny Lk. 15:8-9.
- Possess a meek spirit.
God is the author of destiny; everyone that will actualize his destiny in Christ must access it through God. Meekness is a demand for God to reveal anything to man Psa. 25:9; Mat. 11:28-30. Meekness is the virtue of acknowledging one’s limit of knowledge, and the readiness to learn.
In conclusion, struggle, misfortune, hardship etc. are indicators that an individual is yet to step into destiny in life Lk. 15:11-18. Therefore, any man can walk out of the struggles, hardship, frustration etc. by making the choice for his destiny in Christ!
To anyone reading this that will love to give his/her life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for
Prayer.
- Father in the name of Jesus, by your Spirit deliver me from every enemy of my destiny in Christ 59:19.
- Father in the name of Jesus, empower me by your Spirit to embrace the responsibilities for full delivery of my destiny in Christ 3:16.
