Memory verse:
“And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”
“There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”
“And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” – Lk. 17:17-19.
Scriptures make us to understand that the Church of Christ is ordained for continuous advancement and growth Mat. 16:18. In the same vein, every believer is designed for continuous progress in life Pro. 4:18. We are not qualified for the next levels of blessings, until we give thanks for the present Lk. 17:17-19. This is a vital covenant requirement to maximize the abundant life Php. 4:7.
Scriptural Understanding for Our Thanksgiving.
- Ingratitude Indicates Pride.
The attitude of not being thankful is pride Jer. 13:15-17. Pride is a deadly plague with unbearable outcome Pro. 16:18. No reason is strong enough to excuse anyone from giving thanks when expected.
- Ingratitude is Disregarding God’s Hand.
Whenever an individual fails to give thanks, He is disregarding the hand of God in his life Lk. 17:14-18. A disregard of God’s hand makes one vulnerable to devastation Psa. 28:5; Dan. 4:30-33.
- Giving Thanks Moves God in our Favor.
When we respond on time in thanksgiving for His wondrous works, God is invoked to preserve, perfect and multiply our blessings Mal. 2:1-3; Lk. 17:17-19; Jn. 6:6-11.
