Memory verse:
“Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.” Exo. 32:26.
The challenge of who is on the Lord’s side was presented to the Israelite, the church in the wilderness Exo. 32:26; Acts 7:38. God has not change, hence the same challenge is what He presents to the church in all generations Mal. 3:6. There are definite manifestations that identify the believer that is on the Lord’s side. An understanding of them will help the believer to appraise himself and maintain his place in God.
Biblical proofs of being on God’s side.
The love of God binds a man to God, it unequivocally places a believer on God’s side 1Jn. 4:16. And the veritable evidence of the love of God is delightsome obedience to God Jn. 14:21,23; Psa. 112:1-3. We must understand that love is a choice individuals make, it is not a gift that is imparted Mat. 6:24.
Giants in scripture on God’s side who were made through delightsome obedience.
Abraham was a die-hard lover of God, and he proved it by his unreserved obedience to every instruction of God Gen. 12:1-4; 17:1-2,23; 22:1-11. Abraham was so strong on God’s side that God began to refer to him as a friend Psa. 105:42.
Peter proved he was on God’s side by his obedience to the instruction of God Lk. 5:1-5,10; Acts 10:17-21,23,34-45. When he was confronted by the council at Jerusalem on the issue of speaking in the name of Jesus, he boldly responded that he will rather obey God not the council Acts 4:7-13. And Peter who was an ignorant illiterate rose to become a celebrated apostle of Christ.
