Scripture emphasizes that the pathway a person chooses in life ultimately defines their destination Psa. 1:1; Jer. 6:16-17. Therefore, it is for everyone to examine the pathway they follow to ensure they are heading towards their desired destination Pro. 14:12; 16:25. For believers, the pathway to experiencing the glorious life ordained in the kingdom is holiness Exo. 15:11; Isa. 35:8; Heb. 12:14.

How Beautiful or Glorious is Holiness?

  1. It Secures Health and Vitality.

Sin opens the door to sickness, disease, and affliction Hos. 7:1. Holiness conversely is the pathway to health and vitality Mk. 2:1-12(5); Jn. 5:1-9(14). Health and vitality, referred to as strength in scriptures, are essential for accomplishing exploits Dan. 11:32.

  1. It Ensures Profitable Giving.

Giving is the kingdom way to abundance Lk. 6:38. To yield true abundance, giving must be done in righteousness Hos. 10:12; Mal. 3:1-4; Mat. 5:23-24. This is often the missing link why some fails to produce abundance.

Exposing Controlling Powers.

There are spirits at work that empower sin and bring individuals into captivity of sin. Understanding these spirits is vital for achieving victory over sin.

  1. Spirit of Disobedience.

These spirits influence individuals to disobey whatever God commands Eph. 2:1-2; Deu. 28:15. The remedy lies in the choice for obedience and empowerment by the Spirit of obedience Deu. 30:19; Ezk. 36:27.

  1. Lying Spirit.

These spirits lead individuals to misrepresent the truth 2Chr. 18:20-23; Jn. 8:44; Rev. 21:8. The remedy is empowerment by the Spirit of truth Jn. 14:17; 15:26; 1Pet. 1:22.

  1. Spirit of Pride.

These spirits cause individuals to see themselves as greater than who they are, resist correction, and defy instruction 1Jn. 2:15-17. The mission is to destroy the individual Pro. 16:18. The remedy is empowerment by the Spirit of meekness 1Pet. 3:14; 1Cor. 2:12; Isa. 14:12-14.

Conquering Controlling Powers.

To break free from controlling powers, consider the following.

  1. The Holy Spirit is the Quickening Spirit.

One of the Holy Spirit’s roles is to quicken the mortal bodies of believers Rms. 8:11. This quenches all motions of sin in our flesh, enabling the believer to walk in holiness Jn. 6:63; Rms. 8:13.

  1. The Spirit of Dedication to God.

The Holy Spirit empowers believers to be dedicated to God and His kingdom Jn. 10:17-18. This enables believers to pursue godliness in all seasons Jn. 12:24-26; Mk. 4:30-33.

The Way Out.

After breaking these controlling powers, understanding how to live free from sin is crucial for walking in true holiness.

  1. Holiness is not a state of perfection.

Holiness involves undying hunger and thirst after righteousness Mat. 5:6; Php. 3:13-14.

  1. Take spiritual responsibility not to go back from where we have attained.

This involves being intentional in pressing forward to become more like God Php. 3:12-16.

Repentance entails acknowledging one’s sinful life, experiencing godly sorrow, open confession, and a commitment to avoid sin 2Cor. 7:1,10. It is the only means to secure God’s forgiveness and freedom from sin Acts 3:19; 1Jn. 1:8-10.

Anyone can be free from sin and walk in true holiness throughout their life. Achieving this guarantees the experience of glory, as long as one continues to walk in holiness. You are the next who will testify of this transformed life!
