Life on earth is designed and ordained by God in times and seasons; this is to guide people on the right things to do at the right time Gen. 1:14-15; 1Chr. 12:32. At a time like we have come to in the year, which is the end of the twelfth month, there is the right thing to do. Heaven must hear our thanksgiving for us to receive approval for a more glorious year ahead and vice versa Dan. 4:29-33; Jer. 30:19.
The Power of Thanksgiving.
- It Empowers for Change of Story.
Thanksgiving is one of God’s vital secrets for changing people’s story Hab. 3:17-19. Genuine thanksgiving makes life to experience positive turnaround, and never goes down or runs empty Jn. 6:6-11.
- It Empowers for Victory in Battle.
Thanksgiving is one of the most potent spiritual forces against our enemies Psa. 92:1-2,10-12. No genuine thanksgiver gets defeated in battle 2Chr. 20:22-24.
- It Makes Things Work.
Thanksgiving is a kingdom facilitator that makes everything work in life Psa. 92:1-2,10-15. On the other hand, nothing works in the hands of a murmurer; it messes up our issues even more 1Cor. 10:10.
- It Delivers from Stagnation.
A lack of giving thanks exposes people to the forces that devastate and destroy Psa. 28:5. Giving thanks invokes the release of oil, resulting in ease of progress Psa. 92:1-2,10-11.
- It Engenders Sustainable Growth.
Thanksgiving is the mystery behind sweatless, sustainable, and continuous growth; whether of church, business, career, profession, family etc. Jer. 30:19-21. Behind every growth is the hand of God, which responds best to thanksgiving Mat. 6:27; Exo. 15:11.
The Wondrous Acts of God in Our Lives.
We need carefulness and diligence to be thankful Psa. 103:1-2. What are the things God has done in our lives?
- Forgave All Our Iniquities.
If God counts our unrighteousness, none will survive Psa. 103:3; 130:3; Rms. 5:9-10.
- Healed Our Diseases.
The mission of every sickness is death; if we are still alive it’s God who didn’t allow sickness to fulfil its mission in our lives Psa. 103:3; 107:20; 1Pet. 2:24.
- Delivered Us from Destruction.
There are too many arrows of the enemy flying day and night with the mission to destroy us Psa. 91:5-6. God has kept us in our going out and coming in against all odds Psa. 103:4; 121:5-8.
- Covered Us with His Tender Mercies.
The mercy of God is what has made us not become victims of the enemy’s accusations Lam. 3:22-23; Psa. 103:4. If not, we would have been consumed Psa. 124:2-3.
- Supplied All Our Needs.
In spite of the economic downturn, hike in cost of living, weak currency value etc., we have not lacked the good things of life Psa. 84:11. God committed Himself to supply our needs in His word, and He has done this indeed Psa. 103:5; 37:18-19.
Conclusion.
Stop counting your losses, if you don’t want to suffer more losses; rather start counting your blessings, in order to experience gains. When we appreciate God, we keep appreciating in life Psa. 78:42,59-60. Thanksgiving is a personal responsibility; no one can do it on behalf of another Lk. 17:17-19. Therefore, everything that has breath must learn to give thanks; this is what will make the best of life answer to the individual Psa. 150:6.
Salvation Prayer.
To anyone reading this who desires to give their life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart:
“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me; on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you, Jesus, for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me. Amen!”
Prayer.
- Father, I choose rejoicing, thanksgiving and praise as lifestyle from today, empower me by your Spirit to remain committed for life 30:19.

At new birth, Christ came to live inside believers Rev. 3:20; Col. 1:27. This is the secret behind the unstoppable nature and resilience of every true believer. Believers are obligated to give thanks to God always 2Ths. 1:3; 2:13.
