Memory verse:

“And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.”

  • Jer. 30:19.

The church of Christ is ordained to keep increasing and growing till Jesus returns; though the devil and his forces will always stand against her growth, but all their effort cannot stop it Mat. 16:18. The growth of the church will not just automatically happen because God has ordained it, believers must take responsibility by doing what scriptures command. Why is the growth of the church very important? It is because it is key to the blessing and greatness of believers Jn. 15:16; Dan. 12:3. Therefore, understanding what will keep the church growing is vital to the life of believers. Thanksgiving is the scriptural demand for the church to keep experience supernatural growth Jer. 30:19; Psa. 28:5.

Scriptural understanding that will sustain believers in thanksgiving for growth.

  1. Understand that our God is the God of multiplication.

The scriptures show us that multiplication comes only by God, not the effort of men Deu. 1:11. In essence, to experience multiplication in the church, God must be at work. Thanksgiving and praise are veritable ways to stir God to work Exo. 15:11.

  • Understand that God is the sender of the word that stirs and sustains church growth.

The growth of the church is largely a function of God’s word Mat. 24:28; Jn. 6:66-68. In essence, increase in God’s word will result in corresponding increase in the number of the people Acts 6:7. In thanksgiving, God is moved to send His word in increased dimension thereby resulting in church growth Isa. 30:29-31.

  • Thanksgiving and praise moves God to add to the church daily such as should be saved.

It takes God for anyone to be added to the church Jn. 6:44. When thanksgiving and praise becomes the way of life in the church, God is moved to add saved souls to the church on a daily basis Acts 2:47; 5:14.

Church growth gives God great pleasure Lk. 12:32. But the church will keep growing only as believers accept the responsibility, which essentially is thanksgiving.
