Memory verse:
“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” – 1Jn. 5:14-15.
We have established from scripture that prayers are ordained for answers from the Lord for every redeemed Mat. 7:7-8; Jn. 16:23-24. What is prayer? It is heartfelt communication between man and God, with the promise that God has committed Himself to answer whatever we ask in faith Mk. 11:24; Mat. 21:22. No matter how impossible it might appear to men, when a believer dares to ask in prayer, it will be delivered. This means that what a believer does not have is what he has not asked for Jn. 16:23-24.
Demands for Guaranteed Answers to Believers’ Prayer.
- Refuse ‘No’ for an Answer in Prayer.
In the place of prayer, persistence is a vital requirement to command answer Lk. 18:1-8; Gal. 6:9. Believers must learn how not to be easily discouraged at the prayer altar and to avoid giving up too soon when it seems answer is not forthcoming. Everyone who prevailed in prayer refused to let go until they got an answer from God. Jacob is a vivid example; he refused to let go until he prevailed in his prayer Gen. 32:24-28. Elijah is another good example; he refused to take ‘No’ for an answer, and he prevailed 1Kgs. 18:40-46; Jms. 5:16-18.
