Memory verse:
“Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.”
“Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.” Isa 66:7-8.
Scripture makes us to understand that God’s central agenda on the earth is the advancement and build-up of His church Mat. 16:18; Pro. 4:18. Everything that will be built requires man’s input or investment, before God the ultimate builder to step in Heb. 3:4; 1Cor. 3:6. Man’s input for church growth is fundamentally prayer investment Psa. 2:8; Acts 6:4,7. This is why prayer is the life-wire of every growing church Ezk. 36:37.
The Power of Prayer in Commanding Church Growth.
- It is the Wisdom for Supernatural Growth.
Every house is built by wisdom, including the church Pro. 24:3-5; 9:1. Wisdom is doing what God instructs on the issue of concern Mat. 7:24-25. God’s instruction for church growth is for believers to travail in prayer Isa. 66:7-8; Ezk. 36:37.
- It Invokes Fresh Revelation.
Fresh revelation will always trigger growth of the church Acts 6:7; Jer. 3:15-16. The prayer altar is the place of generating fresh revelation Psa. 119:18; Jer. 33:3. This implies that we must keep praying for fresh revelation for our pastors 2Ths. 3:1.
- It enhances Spiritual Refreshing.
Prayer and fasting enhances spiritual refreshing that makes the church like a well-watered garden, thereby making God’s people to abide and reproduce that results in church growth Isa. 58:6,11; Psa. 23:2.
