Memory verse:
“Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken. 16 Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. 17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away captive.” – Jer. 13:15-17.
Thanksgiving is a mystery of God’s kingdom that empowers believers for mastery over life issues, giving him command over the affairs of life (Psa. 92:1-2,10-15). We have identified from scripture that pride is and archenemy of the life of thanksgiving; it prevents believers from being thankful (Jer. 13:15-17). Pride will make an individual not see anything good happening; it makes people complain at everything, and the end result of these is destruction (1Cor. 10:10).
Scriptural Understanding and Example That Help for Victory Over Pride.
- The Example of Nebuchadnezzar.
Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon, the most powerful nation of his days (Dan. 1:1), Though a heathen king, he was greatly helped by God. His greatness became his undoing; he fell victim to pride, which resulted in the devastation he experienced (Dan. 4:30-33).
- Cost of Pride.
Pride moves God to resist an individual, which results in downfall (1Pet. 5:5-6). This means that pride robs victims of honor, avoid it at all costs (Pro. 15:33).
- Pay the Price Not to Be a Victim of Pride.
This is by a simple decision to always lay it to heart; to give all the glory to God for everything (Jms. 1:17; 1Ths. 5:18). This has to be expressed openly and loudly (Lk. 17:15-16).
Jesus is Lord!
Prayer.
Father, by the blood, flush out every trace of pride from my heart and life (Rev. 12:11).
Action.
Make the decision to give God all the glory for everything in your life from now.
Priestly Blessings.
The grace to be ever thankful is released on your life afresh now!
By the help of the Holy Spirit, you shall never be a victim of pride in life!
