From scriptures, we recognize the midst of the year as a season of revival, which indicate that we have been in a revival season all the while Hab. 3:2. Further, the bible shows us that every revival is ordained to move God’s people forward and supernaturally impart on the society and the nation Isa. 61:1-7. Just like in all things, our understanding is what will determine how much we make of the season Pro. 4:7-9.
What is a Revival?
- A revival is a celebration of divine visitation among God’s people Gen. 50:24; Exo. 3:7-10.
In essence, a revival is simply the appearance of God in the midst of men. Every time God shows up among men, it is always with dramatic, earth shaking impact on lives and the environment Psa. 65:9-11.
- A revival is a season when people actively partner with God, thereby experiencing a manifestation of supernatural wisdom in their lives Pro. 13:20; Hag. 2:3-4; Acts 2:46-47.
In essence, a revival is God at work through men, with the outcome of the men operating as ‘gods’ on the earth.
How to Identify the Season of Revival.
When God is at work, certain physical manifestations will show it. Some of which are:
- Every home become a ‘church’, that is House Fellowship Centers.
In a revival, the traditional church center becomes insufficient for worship of God for space, time, and opportunities. The church spread into every home, where people gather to worship Acts 2:46; 5:42; Rms. 16:5; 1Cor. 16:19.
- Praying for the needs of others becomes a way of life.
In a true revival, the selfish nature of the fallen man is taken off, as believers manifest selfless nature of God Eph. 6:8,18-19; Gal. 6:2; Pro. 11:25. It is a risk to operate the selfish nature in a revival, Ananias and Sapphira are examples Acts 5:1-11.
What is in a Revival for us?
- Every revival is ordained to advance the church of Christ.
God’s strong and strange appearance in a revival makes for the supernatural growth of the church Mat. 16:18; Act 2:2-4,37-41. Remember, in the growth of the church is the glory of the saints Jer. 30:19.
- Every revival engenders the rise of giants.
The partnership of man with God in a revival turns the believer to a giant Pro. 13:20; Jer. 30:19-21; Dan. 12:3. But the benefits of a revival are only for those who engage in the revival.
How to be a Part of a Revival?
- Commit to promoting God’s kingdom with our resources.
A revival essentially is to advance God’s kingdom, this requires investment of huge resources to accomplish Zch. 1:17; Hag. 2:6-9. In essence, a commitment of one’s resources to promote God’s kingdom is a veritable way of engaging in a revival; like taking care of the needs of converts and new members, transportation of converts to and for church services, financing church building projects etc Acts 2:44-45; 4:34-37.
In conclusion, we are in a revival; every wise believer will take advantage of the season for his dramatic change of story in life.
To anyone reading this that will love to give his/her life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for
Prayer.
- Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for the understanding of this season of revival you have given me today Psa. 49:20.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me by your Spirit for full engagement in this revival resulting in full delivery of the blessing of the season for me Eph. 3:16.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, destroy every trace of selfishness in me and cause God’s nature of selflessness to become my nature Jn. 10:17-18.
- Father in the name of Jesus, by your Spirit I am emerging from this revival a kingdom giant to my world Jer. 30:19-21.
