Redemption brought believers into a new life of great promises and inheritances (Acts 20:32; 2Pet. 1:4). One of the inheritances is long life; this makes a good old age our heritage in Abrahamic lineage (Psa. 91:16; Isa. 65:20). But a good old age is a function of strength (Deu. 33:25; Psa. 84:7). Believers who will experience their heritage of a good old age must accept covenant responsibility for building their strength in God.

Covenant Keys for Going from Strength to Strength.

  1. Be Genuinely Born Again.

The access point into strength in the Lord is becoming a true child of God (2Cor. 12:9-10). Every promise of Scripture and provision of God’s kingdom is only for the true children of God (Acts 8:13,18-22).

  1. Grow in Revelation.

Revelation refers to spiritual understanding of God’s Word, which enables correct application of Scripture leading to delivery of desired results (Mk. 4:11). Revelation is the mystery behind rejuvenation (Job 33:21-25; Psa. 103:5; Mat. 4:4; Rms. 12:1-2).

  1. Commitment to Fellowship with God.

Our God is a God full of strength (Psa. 24:8; Isa. 40:28-29). The more a believer fellowships with God, both corporate and personal, the more God’s strength rubs off on him, making him grow in strength (Psa. 84:7; Heb. 10:25).

  1. Proven Love for God.

Love for God fills a believer with the nature and personality of God. One effect of this is more strength in the Lord (1Jn. 4:16; Eph. 3:17-19). This implies as we grow in our love for God, we grow in strength, thereby securing our heritage of a good old age (Gen. 25:7-8; Isa. 41:8). To enjoy a good old age like Abraham, we must make the choice for the love of God (Mat. 6:24; Jn. 8:39).

  1. The Lifestyle of Joy and Rejoicing.

Joy is a booster of strength; it has the capacity to make strong (Neh. 8:10; Pro. 17:22; 18:14). Apostle Paul lived to a good old age, and he was referred to as “Paul the aged,” and one vital secret was Paul’s lifestyle of joy and rejoicing (Php. 1:15-18; 4:4; 1Ths. 5:16,18).

Conclusion.

God revealed to Moses 120 as man’s lifespan, he attained this and was described as being in a good old age (Gen. 6:3; Deu. 34:7). On the other hand, David saw 70 as God’s lifespan plan for man; he left at 70 and he was also said to have departed in a good old age (Psa. 90:10; 1Chr. 29:26-28). This validates the truth that “as far as our eyes can see” shall be given to us (Gen. 13:14-15).

Salvation Prayer.

To anyone reading this who desires to give their life to Christ, pray this prayer out loud with me from your heart:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins; wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me; on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you, Jesus, for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me. Amen!”

Prayer.

  1. Father, I believe in my heritage of a good old age, and I receive the grace for perfect walk in the covenant of long life (1Cor. 15:10).
  2. Father, death loses its power over my life right now; I shall fulfill my days on the earth (1Cor. 15:54-55).
