Memory verse:

“Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken. 16 Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. 17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away captive.”        – Jer. 13:15-17.

Thanksgiving is acknowledging God as the one behind every good thing in our lives (Psa. 103:1-2). In God’s kingdom, no excuse is acceptable for not doing this: mood, influence of people, or forgetfulness. The danger of this is that the individual is classified as proud (Jer. 13:15-17). God hates the proud; He honors only the humble (Jms. 4:6). This is why the proud has no future, either in the kingdom or life (Pro. 16:18). We must run from becoming victim of pride.

Scriptural Understanding and Example That Help for Victory Over Pride.

  1. The Example of King Uzziah.

King Uzziah became a king at the tender age of 16, but was marvelously helped by God (2Chr. 26:1-5). After 52 years of walking with God, he no longer saw God as behind his success, became a victim of pride and fell (2Chr. 26:15-21).

  1. Cost of Pride.

Pride disconnects from revelation (Psa. 25:9). The effect is the individual becomes limited and stranded.

  1. Take Responsibility to Guard Against Pride.

Not giving glory to God is pride Jer. 13:15-17. We must watch against anything that attempts to make us ignore God’s hand at work in our lives.

Jesus is Lord!
