Memory verse:
“Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” – Mat. 22:36-40.
Some think that when they engage in serving God, they are doing God or the church favor. Scripture states clearly that our God does not change; He cannot increase, grow bigger, get better; He is the I AM THAT I AM Exo. 3:14; Mal. 3:6. This means that our service adds nothing to Him. Likewise, every service an individual renders primarily impacts his life, not another person’s Job 36:11; Exo. 23:25-26. This is why only the wise make the choice to serve God Jos. 24:15.
The Benefits of Serving God that Proves Believers are the Beneficiary.
- Serving God Turns Our Reproach to Honor.
Serving God and His kingdom involves essentially reconciling the unsaved back to God, and getting them established in the faith and church Jn. 15:1-2,16. This brings honor to God, and in return God adorns such engaging believers with His honor, thereby turning their reproaches to honor Pro. 14:28; 1Sam. 2:30.
- Serving God Guarantees Open Rewards.
Often, serving God and His kingdom takes place outside of the public eyes; it happens behind the scenes or in secret. Scripture states clearly that when God sees such investments in secret, He comes into the open to reward engaging believers Mat. 6:6-10,17-18.
